After so much testing with Cycles X, I wanted to give you an impression of the live viewport performance with both my RTX and GTX cards. It's something that's difficult to convey in words. It's almost difficult to see, but if you "feel" both versions side by side while moving the viewport, Cycles X gives seriously quick results for lighting previews.

I've added this video to yesterday's article. Enjoy!

Viewport Performance with Cycles X Alpha - RTX 2080 and GTX 970

In this episode I'll take a look at the new Cycles X 3.00 Alpha engine. It's a new project that shall replace the current Cycles render engine that's been in Blender since 2011, and more recently in Poser. I've read a lot about Cycles X and have run some tests on my own systems, you can read about my findings here: https://www.versluis.com/2021/05/checking-out-cycles-x/ One thing I could not demonstrate without a video was how well the viewport renders, so I'm showing it in this video. Enjoy!
