In this episode I'll talk about how to apply a shader to an object, how to select material zones, and the differences between a Shader and a Material Preset. I'll also show you how to create a shader from an object's material zone description.

This was a viewer question and a subject matter that crops up every once in a while, so I thought it's time I'd make a quick video about it. Enjoy!

Great video. I have a number of shader products for things like hair, fabric and metals. They are a quick and easy way to add more variety to the product you already own. Especially the hair shaders. Some hair products will have multiple material zones such as roots and parts of hair already selected making it easy to add slight variation of colors to hair. I've also used a few non-daz .obj files (mostly cars and city buss vehicles) which I was able to easily convert to iRay and then select zones on the object and add shaders for glass, chrome, metal, rubber... Then you have a nice looking object that perhaps wasn't available from DAZ. :D
