Quite possibly first, commenting before reading. Edit: YASS DRAGON QUEEN FINALLY

Lictor Magnus

That’s a lot of corruption for the dragon queen. She’s going to be real upset when she finds out it can’t be healed 😬

Mike G.

Ouch, if Rob thought the blight could get to fiendland fast, the queen can be even faster, and she'll probably ignore corruption to get to him...

Andrew Webb

I know the risk would be great, but damnit Ragnavi was so hurt it was probably the best chance for the Rangers to swoop in and deal with her!

Lictor Magnus

I take it back, she’ll be so filled with all consuming rage that Rob exists that the corruption will be a secondary concern.

Anonymous

Well... it *could* be healed. But the one person with any possibility of doing it...

Not N. Octopus

Minor question, is all of the corruption impossible to heal, or just the corruption afflicting base HP? Like, is Ragnavi able to attain her listed Max HP of about 1400, or is her effective Max about 700?

kamikazepotato

Ragnavi's HP totals are written like that because Overwhelming Power is doubling her base Vitality. The Corruption is eating away into her base Vitality, which means the HP loss is 'doubled' compared to most people. So yes, all of it is impossible to heal at this time.

Not N. Octopus

Oooof, she's gonna be dealing with more pain than Rob, even moreso if the pain is based on the absolute total of corruption and not percentage

thodoris kavouras

There was some focus on Ragnavi's thoughts about how the Blight purposefully fucks with the Locus of power and how that results in life getting rejected in those areas. And Rob can Attune to said Loci, with (so far) only good things coming out of it (minus the excrutiating mind-pain). I feel like while the Humans probably wont be making an appearance again, Rob might eventually find a way to fix/recover/replenish the Loci. Perhaps with the help of the Fiends, which could be used to show the rest of Elatra that they're not all bad. Absolutely fantastic chapter though, can't wait to see how the dragon queen plot-point will develop, there's many ways it can go :D

"I wouldn't never doubt your prowess, my love-" *would never

SirPavlova

Only if she works out where they’ve gone. Which, granted, seems likely.

Marble

Watching the dragon queen suffer is probably one of the most delightful things I have read in this entire story. I can't wait for her to become more dissatisfied with life. She has turned life into a bitter froot for herself.

Not N. Octopus

Also, it seems like that "targeted assassination" of ragnavi's family was propaganda after the fact, if they were incidental to the actual target of the convoy

CMDR Dantae

Yeah, no matter how you put it, they deliberately put themselves in harms way, and Ragnavi allowed them out of overconfidence. That they all died is still surprising though, I wonder how the humans achieved that?

CMDR Dantae

Finally, we see Ragnavi. Damn is she OP.

Catra

Wow, what a chapter. I feel like rob could have and shod have taken care of the dragon queen then, absolute weakest shed ever been or ever will be, an insane genocidal maniac, threat to the entire world and especially rob and the elves and the fiends. And now she's recovering. Not good..

Catra

I wonder if, in fact, it was the humans. I wouldn't be surprised if she had done it herself even, told a lie and flown into a rage incinerating the "captured" convoy without checking. She's certainly got the mental facilities, or lack thereof, for it. Or at the very least maybe betrayal by the dragonkin?

I can't help but have the thought that the Gods in their ever dickish nature would have made sure that Rob looked and sounded a bit like the Dragon Queens dead spouse. Just because that'd be an extra 'fuck you' to everyone involved.

Jachin Nelson

I find it unlikely that the dragon queen will be able to recover from her corruption damage (at least not fully). She might have been weak, but i still think she could have torn many of them to shreds, especially if her Annihilation breath was off cool down

Anonymous

Oof, Rob may need to reconsider temporary switching to that Therapist class if he has to deal with that level of crazy.

Anonymous

Yeah and what's worse, it is going to be chronic pain. Even at relatively low levels chronic pain over extended period of time is pretty darn nasty. At the level that she will be experiencing, over possibly weeks or months? That is going to be mess her something fierce (and will not be conductive for her mental health either). What more, it will weaken her and it remains to be seen if some ambitious lieutenant decides that this is the moment to challenge her.

Nobody here seems to have touched how this fight will affect Dragonkin and other races. I mean, this is going to be mother of all cold showers when you think about it: The most powerful being in all of Elatra just took on the Blight in one-on-one fight and even if she doesn't tell just how close the fight was, everyone will know that she incurred massive permanent loss fo HP and leveled no less than TWO times from that fight. If someone like her is mauled like that, what hope does your average lvl. 30+ combat user is going to have? Especially since that being tanked Dragon Queen version of an alpha strike. This is really going to underline just how utterly terrifying Blight really is and just how fucked everyone on Elatra is. Earth is going to be facing some really tough times too for that matter. What makes this even worse is that the Blight creature is question was weakened from its continuous attempts to bypass the shield. If that being had been in full strength at the start of the fight, I don't know if Ragnavi would have won the battle.

You don't have to even wait for long. Even with heavy duty analgesic spells/potions at their disposal, Ragnavi is going to find out just how horrific chronic pain is.

Hamasake Gagf

well earth has plenty of things that go big boom problem is blight spawned in middle of a city in deserted areas theres plenty of boom boom things that should kill the blight

Anonymous

Yeah, I'm also expecting Earth's soldiers to have sudden cases of extreme combat highs that lead to madness, that's gonna be fun.

Anonymous

Always felt that if humans reappear on this planet..they'll come from Earth.

So my questions are: 1) What racial abilities do the elves have again, if any? 2) How many levels would Ragnavi have gotten if she had fast learner (and is it possible to go past level 100)? 3) Is sun aspect a special class you have to unlock later on, and if so, did she have to abandon her prior class to switch to Sun Aspect? 4) if, somehow, a level 10 came at the last second and managed to get the final hit on the blight (and it actually did enough damage somehow to kill it), how many levels would they have gotten? 5) so the stats we know the dragon queen has: 100 (or maybe only 50 but I doubt it) mind, 140 Vitality, 70 endurance, 100 magic, unknown levels of perception, strength, and dexterity. At level 94, she would have gotten 470 total stat points from levels, so that leaves 60 + all stat boosts that don't come from level ups for the other stats. so, if they are all at least (on average) 70, she has gotten at least 150 stat points from non-level ups?

kamikazepotato

1. Elves have slightly boosted Dexterity/Perception and come with their own brand of Heightened Senses. Their very rare Racial trait is Danger Sense, which so far only Keira and Seneschal Sylpeiros have been shown to have. (To head off speculation: no, they aren't related.) 2. She would've hit 99 if she had Fast Learner, which is the limit. 3. Sun Aspect is an Awakened Class. You'll learn more about them later. 4. Probably around twenty. 5. You somehow got the number correct despite not having access to exact values for some of her stats! Yes, she has 150 stat points from non-Level ups, which is about normal. As an example, Keira, currently level 43, has 96 stat points she's gotten from non-Level ups. They add up over time. Rob at Level 47 currently has 109 'natural' stat points; he used to be an outlier that was far ahead of the curve, but he actually hasn't gotten a single Natural stat point in over 14 level ups.
