Out of curiosity, how familiar do you need to be with a specific character from an existing IP? I have an idea, but if you don't know the characters, that might be putting too much onus on you to research them.

Ah I don't want to do any cosplays that are not my own characters. I'd have to spend money on new costumes that I probably won't be able to reuse and learn a bunch about a franchise I am unlikely to be familiar with.
