Poll: Posting older exclusive videos publicly (Patreon)

Hey there! I wanted to bring up the idea of occasionally posting older exclusive content publicly. For example if I'd be not posting a new video one week (like I'll possibly be not posting next Wednesday), then I could post something. 

I'd want to only pick older content so people don't feel like they just paid for something that could have been free in a few months. So maybe a year older or more. 

My main objective is to give y'all what you paid for, so if this concept makes you feel shorted in some way, please let me know. Your opinion matters most. 

What do y'all think? And how old should a video be for the limit of when something is okay to post?

Edit: To clarify, this would be a rare occasion. Pretty much only to fill a week out if I can't post for some unavoidable reason. Not just for funsies.

If it takes the pressure off of you a bit then we all benefit. The last thing any of us want is for you to feel stressed or overwhelmed. Like all of us, you should take breaks periodically. One year sounds like a reasonable threshold that still preserves the idea of super exclusivity that a few patrons seem to like. I’ll support you regardless of what you decide.

If you do go ahead with this idea, I suggest posting them as NEW YT videos with ads and a pre-roll Patreon promo (perhaps a special message to indicate that this was a Patreon exclusive and for more like this join the Patreon). This way patrons are still getting an “exclusive” video with no ads/promos and can still feel special. This also means that the patron comments won’t be publicly visible, but that’s probably a good thing given that patrons who commented weren’t expecting the comments to be fully public.

I'm definitely all for you posting old Patreon videos in the event you cannot post one week. I'd like to reiterate what Dan C said though--i think it would be a good idea to post it as a completely new listing on YT with ads like normal. That will allow Patrons to still have their own private listing without ads and their own Patreon-only comment section. For the Patreon promo reel, after the normal brief preview of recent content, maybe have a panel indicating that "this video is a Patreon video from X date." and then plug your Patreon info. As for how far back should be video be, I think 8 months at the earliest would be good. I feel like any earlier and some who are not Patrons might hold out hoping they'll get another video that they saw semi recently on a Patreon promotion reel.

Hello Bekah! I feel that It might be good for you to post older vids but just wondering how much older, months or years perhaps, you have so many to choose from! I know people would fall in love with the bakers daughter or the sleepy elf wizard! Perhaps post vid from the previous year (kind of like how Amazon Prime does last years season (s) for free but to get this years content you pay) in your case they subscribe to Patreon. Just my cent and a half💰 The choice is obviously yours I support you whatever because I want to help you in any way I can I have seen you evolve as a person ,actor, film maker, costume designer script writer the list goes on, now its at least my $2.95 worth!

I'd say anything over six months should be open to releasing this way, and anything over a year should just go out wide anyway. I don't really look at it as paying for the exclusives personally, just as a bonus for supporting, but I guess you do need some kind of draw that is only available to patrons.

A suggestion. You could put up a poll to let the community decide which exclusive videos to publish whenever those rare moments arise.

I do like having exclusive videos, but I wouldn't really mind you if post them on your channel publicly after a year.

I know I'm fairly late but I think to work as a gap filler then yeah, absolutely, reminds us lot of an older video and gives those who don't use patreon a new video especially if your burnt out or just can't make a new video that week, if nothing else it fits a slot that may need filling
