My favorite character in the franchise is Yachiyo (second is Mami) and I really liked her scenes in this episode and it's funny to see her amazing transformation sequence and a second later Mifuyu transforming reluctantly almost instantly. It's a shame that this anime is so underrated. It's true that the original Madoka anime has a better pace and gave the concepts that have made this franchise so popular but Magia Record has many good ideas to complement the universe of the franchise, with a very interesting story, a great soundtrack and very memorable scenes. Although I also admit that generally animes that are based on video games or that continue the events of one, have the problem that they introduce many characters at once and it's impossible to cover each one properly because you have to prioritize what contributes to the main plot, but in the process it can affect the pace of the story if you introduce them and don't do much with them at the moment. If it were up to me, I wouldn't mind the anime being very long and having filler episodes as long as they could give more time to the characters and various interesting details about them, although many people don't like that either. In the case of Magia Record, an example is each girl's wish, in the anime in some cases it is either not explored in depth, or it is simply mentioned or in most cases it is omitted because there won't be time to explore it because it doesn't contribute to the main plot. I was reading a lot about Yachiyo's wish and Mifuyu's wish, as well as their history of when they became magical girls about seven years ago and it's actually quite a bit of information. Yachiyo's wish was literally "Please...keep me alive... This unit, I want to survive as its leader". I won't say everything that happened because it's quite a lot, but it includes the history leading up to her wish, the wish itself, and various things that happened after (which also includes a lot of plot with Mifuyu). The important idea that the anime also tries to show is that Yachiyo feels that her wish was deformed even though she had good intentions in being a good leader for the sake of her teammates. Based on what has happened to her, she thinks that regarding her modeling career, if she is in a unit, she as their leader, although she wants to support them to progress, will end up being the only one to stand out among all of them, thus ending their careers and in her teams with magical girls, her teammates will end up dying so that she can survive. An interesting thing is that her doppel, as it is a reflection of her emotions, gives the impression of showing her as a widow.

I think this anime is actually getting a rep as bad as it is mainly due to it being a Madoka spin-off and also the first half of season 2 is pretty slow at points. Apart from that it is really good, the animation in some scenes is some of the best I’ve seen!
