ACW/MANIC KAT RECORDS Interview Notes with Fightful Overbooked and Joel Pearl

Fightful's Joel Pearl spoke with Pete from Manic Kat Records and Kevin from American Colosseum Wrestling about their upcoming ROCK OUT BRAWL OUT show on MARCH 23rd at the American Dream in East Rutherford, NJ, featuring former WCW star Crowbar, former NXT personality McKenzie Mitchell, ROH star Cheeseburger, NWA's Wrecking Ball Legursky and live performances from Just Happy To Be Here and Cult Classic!

- Kevin says that ACW was launched 5 years ago as a place for up and coming wrestlers to come in and employ their crafts in story driven events, and present shows that emulate the experience like WWE does with energy, fun, and creating new fans.

- Pete and Kevin met through a mutual friend in February 2020 before an ACW show, and they talked about the movie Bodyslam while sharing their love of rock & wrestling.

- Manic Kat Records & ACW have an official partnership and they hope to bring the Rock Out Brawl Out concept to many places.

- Pete says most of the Manic Kat roster are wrestling fans, citing their love for storytelling in a different medium. He says the bands love the live wrestling theatrics and are all for it - including getting involved in the ring (though Pete says they won't be doing that just yet!)

- Pete says there's "always an interest" in collaboration and having members of the Manic Kat artists roster create wrestling themes

- When asked if Manic Kat Records artist Ryan Cabrera, husband of WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss, was contacted to participate in Rock Out Brawl Out, Pete says that while he'd love to have him at the event, it doesn't match up with Manic Kat's marketing of Cabrera right now

- Kevin grew up as a metalhead and punk fan, and is a big fan of Amon Amarth, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, and has attended Ozzfest

- Pete grew up as an early Green Day fan, loved The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols and the CBGBs vibe. He also loves New Wave, Pop Punk, Emo, Screamo and that's why the roster at Manic Kat is so diverse.

- Kevin points out how much he loved ECW's annual November Rain music video, and how much he wants to create something like that for ACW and Manic Kat - to which Joel suggested that some of the promoted talent for Rock Out Brawl Out should create a version of November Rain for use in wrestling

- Pete came to wrestling later in life, but loved the movie Bodyslam and wondered why more people weren't running shows featuring music and wrestling.

- On the special talent coming to ACW, including former WCW star Crowbar, former NXT personality McKenzie Mitchell, NWA's Wrecking Ball Legursky - Kevin says he's wrestled Crowbar in the past and has always wanted to bring him in, Bull James is a phone call away, and McKenzie was brought in by Pete, who pitched the show to her and she "jumped at it". Wrecking Ball Legursky texted Kevin and Kevin said yes.

- When dealing with the logistics of working a wrestling event in a mall, Kevin puts over the partnerships that ACW and Manic Kat have with the mall, who are understanding of the noise aspect of the shows.

- They both add that once the bands start, the crowds start to form, and they've broken mall attendance records in the past with their shows.

- For many wrestlers in ACW, this is their WrestleMania, their big show and an opportunity to get their name out and create memories for the fans.

- Pete says that he hopes the intensity and high energy nature of the event will draw people in, and Kevin mentions the ACW mission statement of Real Action, Real Fun, Real Close to Home. They both say it'll be loud, full of "oh my god" moments, and they dare fans to find anyone who will give them a more thrilling experience.

- Both men are asked about their favourite wrestling themes:

- Slick's Jive Soul Bro

- Will Ospreay's Elevate

- Dusty Rhodes' Common Man

- No Chance In Hell

- Hollywood Blondes

PETE

- Cody Rhodes' Kingdom

I've always been partial to the Brood's theme with Gangrel, Edge, and Christian. Not sure if they did that song or not but that one is my favorite.

Hmm. Zarian and Rich were talking about a new Tuesday morning show on Mat Men today…
