Fightful Select caught up with Akira Tozawa at the WWE Royal Rumble Media Day in Tampa.

Sean Ross Sapp had the chance to speak with the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Sean mentioned to Tozawa that we had seen him in the ring much more lately and asked how that made him feel. He told Sean he’s been in the WWE for seven years and then told him he still feels like a young boy. Tozawa said he’s trying his best every week but feels like a young boy.

Akira talked about his lifestyle routine; he said he was at  240 pounds, but now he’s at 155. It’s been ten years. Akira said he goes to the gym every day and eats clean. He said he does not have any bad cheat meals but mentioned having good cheat meals.

Sean asked Tozawa what got him to change. He said Apollo Crews and his best friend, Ricochet. Tozawa said those two were the ones that gave him the advice. Akira says he feels stronger now than when he weighed 240 pounds.

Tozawa talked about being at the World Baseball Classic and said to be at and to see Shohei Ohtani striking out Mike Trout was unreal.

When Sean asked how he got paired to work with the Alpha Academy, Tozawa said he was backstage doing the Tozawa shuffle randomly. He was just himself, naturally, and said people loved it.

The conversation ended with the 15-time WWE 24/7 Champion Akira Tozawa telling Fightful that he enjoyed the WWE 24/7 title, loved the ninja gimmick, and has good memories.
