Alan Angels

Fightful Select spoke with IMPACT Wrestling’s Alan Angels at WrestleCade Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp talked to the former Dark Order member about various topics.

The conversation started with Sean asking Angels if he remembered their conversation from last year. Angels said it was regarding Evil Uno’s nice eyelashes. Angels added by saying Evil Uno had a great bald head, too.

Sean asked Angels if he could say one nice thing about Evil Uno this year. Angels told Sean that he wrestled Evil Uno at a C4 event in Ottawa and said Evil Uno is a good wrestler.

When asked what he thought about IMPACT changing their name to TNA. Angels said he is very excited, and now is a good time for the rebranding. Angels said the company has built itself up over the past year.

Angels told us that the first TNA show he attended was Bound for Glory 2007. Angels said his Dad worked with a relative of AJ Styles, and she gave them free tickets. Angels says he’s watched TNA since he was a kid, and to say he will be a TNA wrestler is so cool.

Angels mentioned the X-Division is how the generation before him looked at WCW Cruiserweights. Angels said he always wanted to hold the Intercontinental title and the X-Division championship. He told us that the title being named the TNA X-Division title instead of the IMPACT makes it a bigger goal for him now.

Sean jokingly asked Angels, “How does it feel to know that you ruined wrestling by not jobbing out to Kenny Omega?” Angels says he thinks he’s been asked about that more than anything else in his life.

He spoke about wrestling Omega at a show in Georgia and that Jericho showed up. Angels says that Omega trusted him to have a fun little match together.

Angels talked to us about going from a bigger stage at AEW to IMPACT. He mentioned how Steve Maclin and Deonna Purrazzo were in similar positions while they were in the WWE. They never had much of an opportunity to show everything they could do. He said the three of them are now in that environment where they have the freedom to do so. Angels mentioned how Deonna and Steve shined at IMPACT and says he’s hoping to do the same. [This interview was filmed before Fightful Select reported Deonna Purrazzo’s last working date with her contract with IMPACT Wrestling would be December 9th.]

Angels spoke about the X-Division some more and said that it is a treat to work with people like Chris Bey, Ace Austin, ‘’Speedball’’ Mike Bailey, Trey Miguel, and Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz.

In closing, Angels told us his favorite things he has done in IMPACT so far were going against Mike Bailey at Emergence and facing Jonathan Gresham in Atlanta. Gresham and Angels are both from the Atlanta area.
