What we know about WWE Day 1 surprise (Patreon)

WWE Raw Day 1 has some buzz around it.

Fightful was able to learn of internal chatter back on Friday that the company was close to nailing down an appearance from a former WWE Champion. After it was reported, Triple H added credibility to the rumors, saying "stay tuned."

We haven’t learned what their baseline or qualifications of “WWE Champion” would be, but as we read it, it appeared to be just as it reads, as opposed to a former Hardcore Champion or something of the like.

No talent or creative sources that we’ve spoken to know who will be revealed as the person. As of early afternoon, the person was designated a full segment mid-show.

When we asked WWE sources, they were told it wouldn’t be Mercedes Mone.

The Rock was in Pasadena for College Gameday, just a couple of hours from WWE Raw. When we brought that up to a WWE higher up, they said we made a compelling argument, but wouldn’t confirm or deny. Nick Khan was in Pasadena today hanging out with The Rock. The Rock is who we are expecting to be the name for tonight's show.
