Edge will now be known as Adam Copeland, and is All Elite.

Fightful has already spoken to a number of sources within AEW, which have unanimously positive receptions to Copeland joining the company.

In addition to being around full-time in AEW, we're told that Copeland will have a significant presence within the company and has expressed his willingness to help in a variety of capacities.  One longtime AEW talent said that Copeland spoke about Copeland filling the gap that CM Punk left behind in that he'll be helpful and not cause any issues internally. That person did reiterate that Punk himself had been helpful to many within the company as well.

Regarding his theme, WWE never held exclusive licensing rights to the song, as Fightful Select had speculated today. However, there were some surprised people within AEW that WWE had allowed the "Rated R Superstar" trademark lapse, and didn't bother to renew it when it became clear he was going to leave.

Some within WWE said that it became obvious to them at the start of the summer that Edge wasn't returning.

One AEW talent said that they were not "officially" clued in, but that it was the worst kept secret in wrestling. Talent in AEW and WWE both spoke about Adam Copeland jumping ship as if it was going to happen as far back as mid-August. Sources that had worked with Copeland spoke as if was a fact even before his last WWE match, though many were not told in an official capacity until well after that. Throughout this weekend, WWE and AEW talent started speaking very matter of fact about the possibility of Copeland joining.

Copeland was kept somewhat hidden, but admitted that he popped out to hang out with Darby Allin and get food, and had been in town all weekend.

WWE sources we spoke to claim that Adam Copeland left on good terms, and would be welcomed back into the company if he ever returned.

The overwhelming consensus was a positive within AEW and a "happy for him" within WWE.'

I have a question Sean from the comments Edge had in the scrum. He stated that he wanted to be full time and is going to be there every week in AEW. This is the opposite of what he had said when he was in wwe, as in wwe he was there on a part time schedule. Could you look into the change of stance Edge had?

He'll always be Edge to me and it's weird to see him on a non-WWE brand, but good for him. The obvious matches, storylines and dream matches he can have in the late stages of his career is exciting.

Sure! I was told immediately he wanted to give back and had been motivated to do it

Was never a massive Edge guy, but really excited to see this AEW run. He could work out to be the type of vet they wanted to lean on in Punk, but just couldn’t and he could help do it of good there.

Can’t help but feel a bit odd that he’s not appearing in wwe anymore. Just like his last run, he left with a win 🤔 perhaps one last stint in the future where he does the honors and goes out on his back at wrestemania? That being said, I’m also very happy for him. Plenty of exciting challenges lies ahead for him and I’ll be keen to see his AEW matches. Overrall win for wrestling, what a time to be a fan

Edge will always be Edge to me him leaving for AEW is shocking I though he would be a WWE lifer & I expected him to end his wrestling career in WWE after not being able to end it on his terms the first time there. With that being said he has been very honest about his body breaking down & feeling like he only has one more year left in him. So if Tony threw more money at him & if Edge has a chance to work with some of his best friends like Christian & The Hardyz as well as new dream matches with FTR amoung others I cannot blame him for wanting to go to AEW

I feel like calling him "Adge" works lol

See I would have called him sexton hardcastle

As long as departures and moves between companies keep being handled very professionally, I think that we’ll continue to see the good vibes when they happen.

I can already hear the line in a promo “you’ve lost your edge Adam” and the crowd will pop 😂😂😂

He has done everything there is to do in WWE multiple times. It is going to feel super weird him being in AEW of course. But it honestly felt they had outgrown one another as he stated. No reason for anyone in WWE to be upset. Happy for him. He is my top 5 favorite wrestlers.
