Tempest of WrestleTalk represented FightfulSelect.com at AEW All In Media Day and spoke with former WWE Heavyweight Champion and AEW commentator Paul Wight in London.

Paul told Fightful that he believes that sometimes he can over-explain things to younger talent when giving advice but says he tries to make a point that the biggest reaction of any match should be the finish.

Paul said when he advises a “Giant” [Wrestler with a similar stature], he would tell them the key is tapping into the crowd's presence. If you're a heel “Giant,” the focus should be on the opponent's fears of potentially getting on the wrong side of a man that size. Paul would note that if they’re a babyface, they should try to get people to view them as someone they want to be around.

Paul told Fightful that he would also emphasize the safety of working with smaller guys. He said the smaller wrestlers will come up with great spots if they trust you. He said that he thinks that Giants still need to be at the stage in wrestling where certain people can be viewed as the face of a company but believes their role is to help the people they work with get there.

He would tell us that one of his favorite turns was when he turned on John Cena. Paul joked that he would have to ask on a regular basis if he needed to smile this week. He preferred being a heel because the psychology behind it is easier.

When he spoke about Bray Wyatt’s passing, Paul said he would miss Bray’s beautiful and positive energy. Paul said he would always hug Bray every time he saw him.

Wight hits his 3 years at AEW in February. I'll be interested if they keep him on (assuming he's up then) as he really disappeared into the background after Elevation got canned.
