Fightful Select caught up with Ricochet recently.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp brought up how he and Ricochet are from Kentucky. Sean talked about the lack of Indy Wrestling in Kentucky. Ricochet would tell Fightful due to Kentucky’s state regulations, he did not get to wrestle in his home state until he was with the WWE.

Fightful asked Ricochet about his days in Lucha Underground. When asked if he was ever pitched anything “crazy,” he said, “Not really.” He said the things that got pitched; they pretty much did. They tried to do something crazy and mentioned his match against Johnny Mundo (John Hennigan) and mentioned the matches of Dante Fox (AR Fox) vs. Killshot (Swerve Strickland) and Pentagon vs. Vampiro.

Ricochet would tell us more about his experience in Lucha Underground. He said everyone had a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove what they could do.

Fightful asked Ricochet if he ever had an “aha moment” about his athletic ability

He told us, “No, but always thought about it.” He said he would watch people like Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, Jack Evans, Amazing Red, Jack Evans, and Hayabusa.

Ricochet talks about his strength being an underrated asset. He says, “ pound-for-pound, I'm up there with the strongest guys in the company.”  He clarified he wasn’t talking about actual strength and used Bronson Reed as an example.

In closing, Fightful asked Ricochet what he thought about his fiancee and WWE Raw announcer Samantha Irvin going viral recently. He said it was great to see; he mentioned that she is a creator and artist. He said seeing people accept her so well and give her many compliments is awesome.

Kentuckies regulations are what have presented me from pursuing pro wrestling, it’s still the dream tho when I’m in a better position to do so

As a fairly recent transplant to Kentucky (7 years ago, I moved here from Indiana), I had no idea how harsh the rules were and about all of the licensing requirements before I moved here. I can’t believe that commissions still are a thing for professional wrestling. With the fees for a license here, it’s only really worth making an appearance if you’re going to make at least a handful of them in the state, so I can see why Ricochet would choose to work elsewhere until he started getting paid a WWE salary.
