There was another issue with an AEW talent that CM Punk brought face-to-face.

Towards the start of Punk’s AEW Collision run, during the Canada tapings, Jungle Boy Jack Perry was brought to Collision to film a segment, and the two had words about the plans that Perry was supposedly pushing.

According to those on the side of Punk, Perry wanted to use real glass for a backstage segment. Punk was of the belief that he did this so he didn’t need to come to work the next week, which he sees as a big problem in the company. We weren't given clarity as to whether or not this was because the spot was dangerous or because Perry would have fulfilled a needed date ahead of time. Sometimes AEW does pre-tapes on previous shows to air the next week.

Per Punk’s side of things, Perry was going against production, doctors and Tony Schiavone advising him not to do it and them telling him that smashing real glass was a safety hazard, and Perry wasn’t happy with that. Shortly after, there were guidelines put in place and forwarded to talent of things that required clearance.

Punk’s claim was that he was asked to step in and calmly said that they don’t do that on Saturdays (for Collision) and if he doesn’t like it, he could stay on Wednesdays. Word of the situation had made its way around the locker room, and was referred to as an argument. Punk's claim was that Perry was throwing a temper tantrum over the spot not being cleared and people trying to prevent it.

We reached out to Jack Perry but did not hear back.

We weren't told how the situation ended, but several that we heard from agreed with the stance Punk at least claimed.

For those claiming that the tweet was misrepresentative of the story, it was called an "argument" by numerous people familiar with the situation. That is also an incredibly weird thing to get hung up on.

grew up in Hollywood, no clue that stunt people don't like using glass either (sugar glass...something gimmicked, etc)

hey if someone feels a spot is unsafe, cant blame em for speaking up to protect somebody from themselves. Perhaps Jack desnt have the experience or the body of work in the business to understand this like some veterans would.

People are going to bitch about Punk from this story, but regardless of how you feel about him or his issues with the EVPs, he's 100% right here. How can everyone not agree on that? They were just going to go ahead and let him use real glass for this spot without checking first? The fuck is this? Punk may be wrong about many other things, but he's right in this scenario. Not really much of a debate. Thankfully he was fuckin there too, because it sounds like they would've gone ahead and done it without his input.

Reminds me of the Jade Cargill story where Jade was asked to do a chair spot, and she literally didn't even know how to hit a wrestler with a chair properly because she's so green, so she asked Punk. Punk told her how to do the chair spot, because apparently the producers weren't going to show her. They sorta just ask their wrestlers to do some of these spots and then totally leave them to their own devices without asking if they're comfortable doing it or if they have experience doing it. Even if people dislike Punk's attitude a lot, this was a GOOD thing that he did. This is not him being petty or difficult, this is him doing something that one of the producers should've done.

the same people bitchin about this will be begging Sean by Friday about updates on Johnny Gargano and Randy Orton

I'm normally not a Punk advocate, but he did absolutely nothing wrong here.

after the doctors, producers, and even Tony S say no, for some reason they thought Phil should get involved? I'll wait for the whole story.

Sorry, when was Punk promoted to management or talent relations. Punk is literally the last person who should be sticking his nose into interpersonal conflicts in a company because he takes everything way to personally.

While Punk was correct about not using real glass, the comment about saving it for Wednesdays was uncalled for. Also, of every single wrestler in the locker room, you’re telling me it was Punk people decided to bring in to talk sense into Jack? Tbh, it would have been way less inflammatory and would have made more sense to me had they called someone like Anna Jay (Jack’s girlfriend) to talk him down.

Quick question, is reason why we've only seen Scorpio sky once on collision because he's friends with the Young bucks and punk is being a child man about it, I feel like punk has been having this hard on against southern California wrestlers, also I hate the argument punk is using against Christopher Daniels not being allowed because ace steel isn't allowed, ace steel was directly involved in the fight and bit someone where as cd was not involved with the direct fight and was only there to deescalate like you would assume is talent relations job, honestly at this point just fire punk im done with him in any form of power/tony waving power around at his behest
