Fightful Select caught up with “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler during recent media availability. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp asked Shayna how the pitch went down regarding biting Becky Lynch’s neck on the night she debuted on Raw. Shayna said it was because the WWE wanted her to trend on Twitter.

Shayna said she has a “gnarly arm stomp”, but management told her they wanted her to be the Mike Tyson of the Women’s division. Shayna did say she ended up trending on Twitter.

The topic of catch wrestling came up. Shayna talked about the way she was, the way she slowed down and still made her submission holds work.

Shayna said that she once wanted to do the cool stuff like jump off the top rope; however, she noted Josh [Barnett] would not allow it.

Shayna said Josh tried to drill it into her head by saying, “Nobody can do what you do. So, why would you do what everyone else does?” Shayna said that is when it clicked for her.

Shayna also would tell Fightful that she will sometimes look into the crowd when she is about to stomp on one of her competitors to see if someone has to turn their head away.

Sean mentioned that Shayna introduced wrestling to Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke. Shayna replied that she was “The Wrestling Sherpa.” Sean asked Shayna how it felt that Ronda wanted to tag with Shayna instead of having a singles title match at WrestleMania.

Shayna said it’s not a secret that Ronda draws eyes, and people love to hate her because she says what’s on her mind. Shayna said Ronda had options for WrestleMania, but Ronda put her foot down and said she wanted to tag with her friend, which she had wished to do since day one. Shayna said it was like a dream that took ten years to come true.
