ROH Death Before Dishonor's card is coming together for Friday, but it saw some big changes.

Fightful Select has learned that the original plans for ROH Death Before Dishonor were actually rematches from Supercard of Honor. Samoa Joe vs. Mark Briscoe, and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Eddie Kingston. Claudio vs. Eddie was originally reported by Dave Meltzer.

Fightful Select has confirmed that Samoa Joe was planning for time off from AEW and ROH, and wasn’t originally scheduled for the ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV. However, the week before the show, AEW got word that Joe would be available for the show and the immediate future, and it’s tied to the strikes in Hollywood.

Joe was scheduled to miss quite a while as he was set to do media and appearances tied to his role on Peacock’s new Twisted Metal series. However, due to the ongoing strikes, Joe will no longer be making those appearances, and is subsequently available for the PPV. Plans were changed last week to include Joe on the show.

However, prior to that, ROH were planning on moving without Joe, and Shane Taylor vs. Dalton Castle would have happened at Death Before Dishonor. Due to the strike, Joe was no longer involved in San Diego Comic Con. As a result, the top contender tournament finals were moved up, and Samoa Joe was added to the show.

Eddie Kingston was granted permission to work G1 Climax, and as a result, the originally planned matches were consolidated into Mark Briscoe vs. Claudio Castagnoli. Unfortunately, Briscoe sustained a knee injury and required surgery. Plans for PAC vs. Claudio were put in place a couple of weeks ago when the company got word of the injury, but couldn't be finalized until Blood and Guts had completed.
