Brian Pillman has been at the WWE Performance Center, but is still a free agent as of now.

Fightful Select confirmed this past week that Brian Pillman’s AEW deal expired in July after a two-year full time contract. Wrestling Observer reported that Pillman was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. We can confirm he was seen by numerous people there this week.

When we asked WWE sources, they confirmed that as of now, Pillman had not been signed, but was working out at the facility. We’re told that what he’s doing resembles a bit of a “get to know you” meeting, and that WWE had immediate interest when he became available. We’re told that things regarding a lot of the people they bring in are being kept close to the vest, but that Pillman was in plain sight of many others at the PC.

Fightful reached out to Pillman, who we haven’t heard back from about the matter.

Wonder what they would change his name to.

Didn't know his deal had expired. AEW never really did anything with him anyway outside of his very short feud with MJF.

Keep the Varsity gimmick and put him in Chase U with Andre, Duke and Thea.

I mean, people could have started to pretend they liked Pillman while he was still under contract. Instead, they waited until after.

John Horton

rocksolid124, how could people actually like Pillman Jr when he was NEVER on TV? AEW Dark was not a way to get people over.

Did Punk's question towards him on "cancel culture" get him that bad?

I think he would be fire in NXT

What did you expect? He got chances just never got over. He's pushing 30 now while still young enough to become something they already have a stacked roster. MJF is younger than him if that puts things into perspective.

Jason O'Dell

No big loss for AEW. He wasn't great in the ring and I felt like he was always missing something. Hopefully NXT can develop him into something.

I’m not going to say Pillman is some loss or some game changing signing for WWE. But I will say from what I’ve seen from his work he’s decent on the mic & decent in ring. Maybe going to NXT could help him

Moving Julie Hart to HoB + Garrison getting hurt + the fact that he never got over even after working with MJF = where he is now. Best comparison for me is Weebey (Pillman Sr.) and Namond Brice (Pillman Jr.) from "The Wire."
