He was part of the legendary tag team/stable Demolition, and this week Barry Darsow joined Lars Frederiksen and Dennis Farrell for the Wrestling Perspective Podcast episode. Barry talks on a wide variety of topics with the guys.

The first question Barry was asked was regarding on how he obtained feedback after his matches because now feedback is almost instantaneous. He said when he was wrestling, everyone watched everyone so that you would hear from some of the guys. He said everyone knew your matches because you were on the road 30-40 days at a time.

He spoke about working with Sam Houston at NWA Starrcade 1985. He told Fightful what was great about his time in the NWA territory: Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair were the top guys. He was in the mid-card. The heels would win most matches, moving you up and down on the card. However, Barry said you could sometimes go up and be a co-main event.

Barry talked about how wrestlers doubt you will see companies have wrestlers play two or three characters again. However, he also mentioned that when he changed characters, they wanted to keep him around because he could work with everybody. [From Smash to Repo Man to Blacktop Bully, for example].

Barry said he knew the Repo Man would be an excellent fit for him because it was for a middle-of-the-card type wrestler who could get the top guys over. He explained why he left the WWF because he wanted to do some work with the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Vince McMahon agreed they would turn him into a face. However, Vince later changed his mind and said he trusted Vince.

Barry discussed another tag team, The Road Warriors [Legion of Doom]. He said Vince presented the idea of Demolition; he loved it. Barry said The Road Warriors were popular except in Vince’s territory. Demolition had the same issue; they were big in Vince’s wrestling territory but not where the Road Warriors came from.

He also felt that The Road Warriors should have been heels in the WWF, and if they had been kept apart from Demolition, it could have been a huge match. He said the same would have happened with Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan when Ric moved over from the NWA.

The full interview featuring Barry Darsow will be available on Monday, May 8th, at 9:00 AM on Fightful.com, Youtube.com/Fightful, or on your favorite podcast streaming platform.

Barry is one of those guys that had a ton of different gimicks but was good enough and versatile enough to portray that wide range of characters. I dont think he gets enough love, he should def be in the HOF. Repo man is one of my alltime favorite gimick.

FWPJR.

I loved Repo Man as a kid, and going back and watching his matches I actually enjoy them.

FWPJR.

I agree with everything you just said, he definitely deserves to be in the HOF.

He and Ax are not in the HOF due to the Concussion lawsuit he chose to get involved against the WWE by an ambulance chasing lawyer and lost.
