Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania, in what came as a shocker to many.

The plan for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns to have a match was planned last Summer, after there were some internal pitches for Rhodes to wrestle John Cena, even after his injury.

When Vince McMahon was in power, there was no plan for Roman Reigns to lose the world championships, much less for Cody to win it. Once he was out of power, the plan was for sure in motion for Cody to compete in the match.

There were people within WWE who began to defend the idea of Roman Reigns winning this past week, and there were some murmurs that he would win last week. Now, we've confirmed that the plan for Reigns to emerge victorious was set and several people were aware of it several weeks ago. We're not told when the talent were informed.

We can confirm that a lot of the interference elements weren't relayed to talent, refs and ringside staff until today, and the involvement of many parties were previously unknown.

Fightful asked WWE sources and a rep if Vince McMahon was involved in the decision making, and they all claimed he wasn't.

We'll gain more details on the finish in the coming days.

I’m good. His adversity was Stardust, was having to leave, was blowing his pec. It simply won’t ever mean as much as tonight. If DB lost at WM 30 and won it later it’s not the same. I’m good, I’ll go back to being a YouTube clip only follower

Corey Moore

Bull. This has Vince's fingerprints all over it.

Jesse Santiago

It was Cody's moment to win but we know how WWE works.

So bc Cody lost tonight that means his story is over? Kevin Owens had multiple title matches vs Roman. Do not expect a title change until after Saudi. That’s 1k days as champ. After that then y’all can complain about booking. Roman hitting 1k days as champ is good business!!!

Nick Dulach

This is Cody’s first L since returning. Vince booked him great until he “retired” Let’s not force that narrative

The problem is that title feuds need to be compelling. You have to believe the challenger can actually beat the champion. This has been the issue with Roman's run. Other then Drew at Clash and Cody here, there has been nobody that has been in a story where it was believable that they were going to win. Why should anyone believe at this point Cody at SS is the guy and that be the right time? If you arent going to do it in your premier event of your year, in front of your best crowd of the year, when mainstream attention is in you.....then I am not sure when or if you'll ever do it.

The baby face challenger should have to overcome obstacles. No not his injury. He’s been unstoppable since returning. Now he lost. How does he rebound? That’s now part of this story. I’m expecting Cody to go thru a lot before finally conquering Roman.

P1eces

1000 days is boring when almost all your defenses are won via interference or shenanigans.

Cody

I’m trying hard not to jump on the cynicism bandwagon. I hope they make something good out of this because it really looks like a major misstep.

Cody

A heel shouldn’t just beat babyfaces flat. That’s when people get buried. If you want sanitized sterile wrestling where everything has the excitement of UFC television fights then New Japan is there for you.

Kyle Pribila

Am sorry but night 2 felt like VM booking

Magan Yusuf

Death. TurboTaxes. Roman Reigns wins LOL

John Horton

Night 2 reeked of Vince booking. I trust the reporting on this, but nothing about the booking was good. Why bring in Shane to tear his ACL in 30 seconds when you had LA Knight? Why have Roman go over yet again with ANOTHER interference finish when the Usos already lost the previous night? Night 1 was good. Night 2, not so much.

Jon Blain

The narrative is HHH is a god Booker who can do no wrong and Vince is all the problems, which is stupid because HHH loved doing this exact type of match with AC Bay Bay and Undisputed Era while he was NXT champion

The vibe did feel totally different all night. Felt like one of the almost forgotten 2015-2019 Wrestlemanias.

Jubilee

At this point I don’t care. Whatever they come up with is too little too late. If they resolve it in the end, it’s still stupid bullshit now, and that’s equally as important.

Justmask

Y’all gotta calm down. Don’t use vince as a scapegoat, triple h fucked up

Hunter didn't fuck up. As much as I would've liked to see something different, I do understand it. We just had a very long term storyline with Roman that was quite successful. After a success like that, why remove the belts for a storyline thats just getting started? You don't. You milk it. It will eventually lead to a stipulation match, voiding interference. I'm betting on SummerSlam.

I felt like Cody winning at Mania was the best end to the story of him proving that he could be “the guy”, but that ship has sailed so let’s get fuckin weird with it: - WWE and UFC are going under the same corporate umbrella - TK has talked about being friends with Dana White - ipso facto, yadda yadda yadda - Roman loses the titles to Action Andretti at Forbidden Door 2026

John Horton

There wasn't supposed to be interference after Solo was banned from ringside. That didn't really matter though. The constant interference in Roman's matches is just getting really repetitive and old.

Doogie

A lot of people say Jey should be the one but I don't buy that. Jey is great but he's not a top guy. He's not someone you build around. If anything now, the story should be one by one The Bloodline members leave Roman's side and one of Sami, Owens or Rhodes dethrone him, followed by Jey beating Roman before he goes permanently to the part time role ending the Tribal Chief storyline.

Vicki Langteau

I'm guessing this is about The Bloodline continuing and Solo becoming the next Tribal Chief. I can see that being the next step on this lunacy. The Bloodline members will be forced to choose and turncoat Heyman becomes Solos new mouthpiece.

I agree, it is has been stale for a while. The fact that it hasn't let up, even after being removed from ring side is why I am betting on a stipulation match coming. Hell in a Cell, Steel Cage, etc... Would love to see a Fight Pit, but I doubt it. Even an Extreme Rules style no DQ would work, because then other can counter by interfering for Cody as well. That said, I would love to see the brothers all abandon Roman and leave him to try and succeed without them, and then lose to Cody (CLEANLY), allowing them to open feuding within the Bloodline once they "prove" Roman is no champion without his family.

Solo's Bloodline will be called the Wolfpack. Roman's will be Bloodline Black and White.
