Fightful Select spoke to new free agent Alicia Atout about her decision to leave MLW.

Atout tells us that she expected to get her release, and was very happy that things ended as amicably as they did, and spoke highly of her MLW experience. She said the unfortunate issue with Richard Holliday getting cancer sidetracked a lot of original MLW plans, but the most important thing was him getting healthy.

After the Clout Couple was off TV due to Holliday's lymphoma, MLW tried to keep her involved by doing appearances and interviews, but she felt like she could do more, and wanted to explore that elsewhere. Her original MLW contract would have been up in December before the company agreed to release her.

Atout says that she's always had her eye on AEW, and that Cody helped get her the early appearance she did for them. However, she thinks it's a blessing in disguise that she didn't end up there full-time, because she believes she's proven that she can provide a lot more value than just interviewing now.

She's already had some companies reach out for signings since free agency hit. She will not be in LA for Mania weekend, however.
