Last week it was the IMPACT Tag-Team Champions Bullet Club, and this week it’s the AEW World Tag-Team Champions, The Gunns, who join Fightful's Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Lars Frederiksen of the Punk Rock Band "Rancid" and Dennis Farrell. This week, the guys spoke with the second-generation wrestlers Colten and Austin Gunn on various topics.

Colten and Austin were asked about being a step ahead when training in the industry and if and when they realized it. Austin said it took him about six months to notice that he was much further along than other students. Austin mentioned constantly asking his Dad, WWE Hall of Fame, current AEW Wrestler, and Coach Billy Gunn questions along with the other trainers. Colten said his story resembled Austin’s and that he picked up things faster than the other students. Colten said it helped to watch his Dad all those years growing up. Colten mentioned six months in AEW that he was wrestling Sting with his Dad. Colten noted that it took most wrestlers five years to get to the stage they were at, and for him, it was twelve weeks. Now, they are the Tag-Team Champs.

Lars Frederiksen asked the Tag-Team Champions if it was hard at times to take advice from their Dad. Austin said he and Colten learn in different ways. Austin mentioned playing Football and Lacrosse and that getting yelled at was okay for him. Austin conveyed that when it came to the in-ring training, he wanted to prove to his Dad that he won’t make the same mistake twice when he messed up. Austin also said that if he and Colten tried to be in the wrestling business, they had to get a College Degree first.

Colten says it’s not hard to learn from his Dad because he knows his Dad is a Hall of Famer and he’s done it before. Colten said what makes him different than Austin is that if he messed up, he would ask a question, fix it, and not do it again.

They mentioned that sometimes when they were working together with their Dad. He would advise them but always let them try to do something, but they always worked on it together. Colten said, "maybe not listening to him is the way because he’s not with us right now, and we won the tag-team titles.”

Colten mentioned that he originally never wanted to be a Pro Wrestler; he graduated college, worked in the corporate world, and later moved to California to build custom houses. Colten saw his brother and Dad wrestling and knew if he never tried it, he would regret it, so he quit his job and moved back to Orlando.

Austin mentioned that he got a scholarship to play Lacrosse and earned his elementary education degree. Austin knew he was an entertainer at heart and didn’t know if he would love pro wrestling, but he liked the idea of entertaining thousands of people.

Austin says he knows his Father is getting older and won’t wrestle forever, or he might because he’s a freak of nature. Austin thought he would be a singles wrestler, but he does not believe that will happen right now.

Austin talked about how he stays in contact with Dominik Mysterio and talks to the other second-generation wrestlers in AEW, like Brock Anderson. Austin said you don’t ask them [second-generation wrestlers] for advice; just watch and see what they are doing. Austin said, “Dominik is on fire right now, and it’s cool to take a step back and see how he’s approaching his career.” Austin mentioned they are always supporting each other.

They would talk about how they felt after winning the Tag-Team titles against The Acclaimed. Colten said he and Austin believed in each other and were the only ones.
