Mickie James joined The Wrestling Perspective Podcast for an interview before her upcoming Career vs. Title match against Jordynne Grace at IMPACT's Hard to Kill PPV event taking place from Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia on January 13th.
The hosts of the show, Lars Frederiksen and Dennis Farrell, talked to the wrestling veteran on many topics.
On possibly having to retire after her match against Jordynne Grace doesn't go her way. Mickie says she is in a good place if it happens, the former multi-time IMPACT and WWE Women's Champion said. She says she sees herself working behind the scenes, as she loves helping younger talent.
She shared her feelings about the current state of Women's Pro Wrestling. She said there are more women training to be wrestlers than ever, and there's a lot of talent out there compared to 5 or 10 years ago, which wasn't the case as much as it is today.
She was asked about her thoughts on the release of Mandy Rose and how it looks considering Vince McMahon is back. She said she does not consider them the same, since Vince is the owner of the company. She said Mandy was an independent contractor and not an employee. Mickie said he stepped away due to it hurting the share prices and big business decisions.
Mickie was asked about her potential last match, potentially being at IMPACT. She said TNA/IMPACT was the first company to see something in her. When she was Alexis Laree, they gave her opportunities, not just her. They've given so many people opportunities, and it's home.
She said if she does lose, she plans to take a break. Mickie said it would be painful for a while to be away from the business, but she imagines she would be back eventually. She was also asked about being a potential wrestler and producer, and she said that does not interest her because she thinks there is a blue line between talent many times.
When she performed at the Royal Rumble while being the IMPACT Women's champion, she said she was a free agent and technically a current free agent. She said she is loyal to IMPACT because of what they've done for her.
She talked about her concerns if the WWE is sold to Saudi Arabia, what that will mean for talent. She talked about her concern for talent. She said if Saudi Arabia buys it, she does not see them forcing people out. Because they also own Football (Soccer) Clubs and have not changed those infrastructures.
