WWE sources are adamant that no sale to Saudi Arabia has taken place as of yet.

As noted repeatedly on official Fightful outlets and channels, there was nothing we could gain to indicate a sale was actually taking place despite reports otherwise and vague gifs referencing it. However, the rumors specifically of a sale to Saudi Arabia were the murmurs in question, and we have heard that Vince McMahon himself had conversations along the way, but that doesn't mean a sale is incoming.

Fightful spoke to numerous talent who shot down several rumors, but were very concerned, and had many questions of their own. A prevailing fear is that Vince McMahon will try to work his way back into creative with a sale, and Saudis being the only entity that would possibly allow that to happen. There have been numerous wrestlers, both those that have returned, as well as top stars in the company who have told Fightful they would walk out if a sale to the Saudis were announced. Others believe there would be significant roster pushback if Vince McMahon were to return to creative, with talent speaking with Fightful daily asking if there's been any update on him pushing his way back into that role.

WWE were adamant in an official capacity that Triple H would remain in his role over creative, live events and talent. There were briefly rumors last night that he was moved to work in International Live Events, but we received no further verification on that.

There were also rumors that talent were told of a sale, which is absolutely false. From all points on the roster, talent found out the rumors when the rest of the world did, much like the Stephanie McMahon resignation and Vince McMahon returning to the company news. They had no prior heads up, were not given answers, and have not been briefed.

WWE sources constantly dismissed the rumors of a sale being good to go last night, and more emphatically rejected it this morning. To reiterate, all along the way, despite the rumors and whispers that turned into shouts, there was nothing to indicate this was far along.

The major story that came out of this is that there are too many wrestling reporters who are very reckless in their reporting. SRS and Fightful have done a great job of saying what is real and what is purely speculation. Thank you Fightful for doing the best reporting and making sure your reports are legit and not rumors from Twitter.

Sean, on the stream last night you mentioned how at one point, Vince went off on the Saudi Prince. I believe that was at the infamous crown jewel event --I believe Vince got out of Saudi, but a lot of talent was mysteriously stuck due to "plane trouble." Can you expand at some point on what kind of confrontation Vince had with the Prince? I recall the prince was upset the video feed of the event was cut in the country due to not getting paid on time, but I think I don't recall Vince had "gone off " on the Prince. If so, explains why Vince got out of dodge before the Sh%t hit the fan. Sadly, talent wasn't so lucky.

Vince taking over creative is absolutely going to happen - it's probably already in flight since he became the chair. Vince was always the creative guy and had Linda/team run much of the titan sports business in the past. Feel bad for the talent there but realistically the new signees should have done their due diligence on WWE. There was always a risk Vince would come back given the power he has and the corporate structure he set up to make sure he didn't lose his company like Steve Jobs did with apple.

SRS, you and all the staff are freaking amazing. Thank you all for being diligent and getting everything pulled together for us greedy goblins while being ethical about it all and trying to source it as thoroughly as possible. It is genuinely appreciated.

I guess now Tony Khan needs to buy WWE for the good of the business!

Stephanie resigning tells me that a deal may be coming. When she bails like that bad news is normally not behind....for her to just leave like that after them saying that nothing is changing is telling.

Cheees for the update & your consistency. Hopefully with the blowup & backlash that came with Saudi buying WWE will lead to one or both of the parties getting cold feet

I think we'll find out Vince was behind the sudden release of Mandy rose

What role does HHH have over talent currently? I thought it was just creative?

Cody

I think that the backlash doesn’t matter if the Saudis are willing to offer stupid money for the company.

I will pretend I didn't read this take. Nope, did not read, nothing to any of this. I really should have closed the FS tab on my browser and not refreshed.

Mandy had a choice, made it, and was released. It’s not that deep.

She was away until Vince stepped down though why stay after he’s back? Clearly there’s more there.

thinking about it, what are the chances that someone with a beef with Vince (😉) leaked this to mess with him and the share price?

Anonymous

Would be the death of 3 wrestling companies instead of 2 then lol

e d

He's head of talent relations, essentially hiring talent and contracts.

She left just before the wall street journal stuff popped off and came back when Vince stepped down then Vince comes back says nothing is gonna change only for her to step down again b4 the Saudi rumors started. I'm not saying there's a there there but don't look pass it.

My silly reply aside.... In the past 24 hours I've read takes on the SA sale reports that are plausible and realistic. Both why it is impossible to have gone down yet and others why it could be true. Takes on why they wouldn't deny or deny at this time. SRS, Ariel, Brandon and Jon Alba all have good reps. People insist Haynes... the guy from Bodyslam... does too and he added later that the deal is agreed to "in principle" so not a done deal until shareholders, others agreed to it. The Stephanie stuff adds another layer or two to the whole thing. Maybe the deal isn't done but they leaked news to test the reaction... which is silly in this case since they could easily gage reaction based on backlash to the events held there to know how people will react. Talent and staff are already on the edge... and that sort of thing just wrecks with their nerves. I've been around the IWC too long to believe all but agree, don't dismiss or look past everything either. This one.... I don't even know what my take it because all the takes I've seen feel realistic.

Oh I understand where you coming from. I only trust SRS out of everyone you mentioned. I'm one of these folks that pay attention to patterns and sometimes I need to not do that with everything lol. But yea the reaction should be a big gigantic sign to them to not deal with the Saudis, money isn't everything especially if it means keeping your business respectful.

Will Landrum

I'm gonna laugh of they end up backing out of any potential sale due to the public and company reaction to it.

The Saudi prince doesn't care about the backlash. There's money to be made even in the tape library and or parting out the company. Even if all the talent walked and fans promised a mass boycott they'd buy.

Anonymous

He is they haven't taken it from him he writes all the shows

Will Landrum

I don't care about the Saudi prince. Its the entire US contingent of the company. You know. Like the entire thing. A sale hasn't happened yet.
