WWE interested in another NJPW talent (Patreon)

WWE has interest in a longtime New Japan Pro Wrestling talent, and his situation is quite ironic, considering he just faced a WWE superstar.
Fightful Select has learned that WWE has internally expressed interest in Tama Tonga. While we're told that the interest in possibly bringing in Tonga isn't new, word traveled through the NJPW locker room ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17 and made its way to Fightful. Ironically enough, Tama Tonga faced WWE talent and NEVER Openweight Champion Karl Anderson at Wrestle Kingdom 17, winning the title.
Tonga, 40, had a WWE offer seven years ago in which he turned down in order to team with his brother Tanga Loa in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The two have remained in NJPW ever since, while several of their former Bullet Club stablemates made the jump to WWE.
Subsequently, NJPW sources have claimed that Tama Tonga's New Japan contract is up in a matter of weeks. Fightful reported this week that WWE has had interest in Tama Tonga's brother, Hikuleo.
While much of Tonga's work is done in Japan, he's wrestled for IMPACT, ROH and NJPW Strong in the United States.
