Jon Moxley re-signed with AEW for a five year deal that carries him through 2027, the company has announced.

Several sources indicated that Jon Moxley had been working at some point without a contract, but Fightful has not confirmed that. However, when we repeatedly asked about his contract status throughout the summer, we were told it was "quite a situation," and were also told that AEW would do whatever it took to keep him with the company for the rest of his career. It goes without saying that AEW has worked to make a big investment in Moxley.

An interesting aspect of the deal was that it mentioned Moxley would exclusively wrestle for AEW and its international partners, including NJPW. Moxley has regularly wrestled for GCW, REVOLVER, and made appearances for NEW. AEW wouldn't comment on what this meant for his status with any of those companies, and when we reached out to GCW, they weren't even aware of the press release until it happened, and weren't sure what that meant for his status there. Moxley has a title vs. career match with Nick Gage Saturday in GCW.

In addition, it was stated that Moxley's role would expand into coaching and mentoring. Moxley helped lead a talent meeting after All Out that was positively received. Not that it's much of a surprise, but most all of the talent we've heard from spoke highly of Moxley's influence and how much weight his words carried. We'd also heard that the Moxley-led talent meetings (along with Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson) were very well received.

Hopefully he can help fix the ridiculous backstage issues. An Undertaker "wrestlers court" with Sammy seems to be in order.

That's a great re-signing by AEW. Great move

Hmm Mox said he wanted to come back to Defy and bring Danielson with him. I hope that doesn't changs things.

Doogie

That's awkward. In no way should Nick Gage pin the AEW champion.

Somewhere Brett Lauderdale is reading this press release and single tear is running down his face.

Eh, they are fighting with pizza cutters and light tubes so it's not like he's being pinned in the middle of the ring after multiple minutes of high-level technical wrestling.

Not going to lie would of loved to have seen Mox in a HHH WWE & a possible triple threat match at WM. But I can’t fault him for re-signing big W for AEW & once Mox is happy I’m happy

Mox seems like a great guy so I love seeing him get the bag like this. He’s proven to be the true ace of AEW, so they should be bending over backwards to keep him happy.

In a perfect world they pull a trade, Mox works WM and Styles (or equivalent) works All Out. Hoping the new admin can be grownups for the fans sake at least once.

I find it interesting that the most well-received meetings were held by ex-WWE guys and the Elite-led ones didn’t go well. Maybe it means nothing. I don’t know. But I think it’s something to pay attention to moving forward. Tbh I am disappointed that Kenny’s speech didn’t go over well. I would like for non-WWE guys to also step up and take a leadership role.

Yeah I think it's less that they are ex WWE guys and more that Jericho and Moxley are the true locker room leaders.
