PWinsider has reported that Cody Rhodes has signed with WWE. While we haven't gained confirmation on a pen to paper, we can confirm that WWE has been operating as if Cody Rhodes is headed to the company.

Wrestling Observer, among others, has reported that the lined up match for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania is Cody Rhodes. Fightful has heard that has been the direction, but that other "huge" pitches were made along the way, but weren't sure if those even made it to Rhodes personally. However, Seth Rollins has been the direction for some time, even when some in creative were told there may have been a shift in plans regarding Cody possibly coming in.

A source within WWE has indicated that travel has been set for Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania Sunday, but also specified that could change at any given moment to fit him wherever they want him to appear on the show. People close to Rhodes denied that travel had been set for the show, and said that was inaccurate info. However, those within WWE were working on the notion that Rhodes was planned for night 2 as of this week.

Those in All Elite Wrestling that we've spoken to believe Cody Rhodes won't appear until WrestleMania, though that's their personal speculation and not rooted in anything they've heard from the WWE side of things.

We have reached out to Rhodes and his team, but haven't heard back regarding inquiries of his signing. We'd also heard there were multiple offers on the table, and the Rhodes' were working on unscripted programming.

As with anything, WWE plans are subject to change.

Is it just me or will this feel like a betrayal? Like sure, it’s a scripted tv show and entertainment but the dissatisfaction for wwe is real and aew being a change and a movement is something real. Wrestling is my hobby. It’s my happy place. It’s my ride or die since I been a tiny baby! It’s always been there. It will always be there. Sometimes it’s why I don’t blow my brains out in this mind numbingly depressing world. This revolution, it’s real to me. It’s special in my heart. It’s so much more than just wrestling. Cody was a big part of that and a very vocal part of that. If he does indeed sign with wwe it’s just all for nothing. It was all a work. It’s just a job and just an act. Just a paycheck. How can you move forward with any respect for this person? I’m hurt, in an unfamiliar and weird way. Cody was aew as much as anyone, part of the heart and soul. And you just go back to it? Right away? That hurts me. It means it was all fake. Not the words of your promo or the stories created, but the love, emotion, heart, and passion. That was fake. I feel not only betrayed by Cody but by my own emotions for the way he made me feel, how he made me feel proud the be a fan and an ae dubber.

"How can you move forward with any respect for this person?" You accept he's a real person, that helped start a really good company; but didn't want to be held responsible for a ship he couldn't sail. You don't be like the twitter trolls that feel entitled to anything outside of his performances (not you, just the people in general who feel "betrayed"). I don't know why people won't accept that if you started a business endeavor to run your own company... then the Money says you're no longer able to run your own wrestling company, taking creative controls away from you, that getting a paycheck that supports your family would come first. I haven't watched WWE programming since sitting ringside at the first Double or Nothing, but I'll check in on RAW, if Cody really does show up.
