There's been much made about Adam Cole and pitches that were made to him during meetings in his last stretch in WWE. Ringside News and Wrestling Observer spoke pitches in regards to him being a manager, but as Fightful noted, those never quite made it to Cole himself, which isn't uncommon at all. However, we've learned of one pitch that did.

In early talks and pitches to bring Cole to Raw or Smackdown, one of the ideas floated to Cole himself was that he could cut his hair in order to establish a new look. We're told that Cole made it clear that he wasn't interested in that, and the pitch wasn't made again and by the final things thrown his way, that wasn't among them.

In speaking with WWE, they continued to praise Cole for being transparent in what he did and didn't like creatively, and how he was to deal with during his WWE exit.

Geeze lol

The only time Cole should ever lose his hair, and I speak as a bald man, is in some form of career defining mask vs hair/hair vs hair stipulation. For that to be how they introduce him to a new audience should be a major alarm bell to anyone associated to that company.

Man, are they stupid or what? I don’t know why they feel they have to change anything once a wrestler moves up to the man roster. I get that not everyone watches NXT, but there are people that do, and if the plan is always to change names/characters once they move up, then NXT basically serves no purpose whatsoever.

This seems to come up quite a bit, didn’t Becky say a writer pitched shaving her head once? Then there’s Otis, Gable, Corbin (though probs necessary) in recent times. Sean can you do some digging and see if it’s just one bloke with a hair fetish or if it’s just a weird culture in WWE please?

Raul Ortega

Haha why are they even thinking about reintroducing him. Did they not see his pop on that sd vs dbry

Man, Adam Cole seems like an absolute joy to work with and just a great human being. I'm glad he's where he feels he belongs and he's happy.

Wulf

Yes, because that worked out for Dolph Ziggler.

He chose being with his best friends and girlfriend with his established gimmick, look and name. Instead he could he on the longest episodic sports entertainment program in history, managing Keith Lee as Adam Coleman with a sweet new haircut. What a dummy.

I will never understand why step one seems to be change their look, when step one should probably be to put them out there as they are and see if they get over.

Lol, they tried it. Cole just seems like a genuine guy. Glad he’s happy where he’s at

They wanted him to cut his hair? Like what Jim Herd wanted to do to Flair? Cole has had his hair like that forever, no wonder he was against it.

You think theyd look at the debacle before survivor series, that year where nxt saved them when half the roster was stuck overseas, and see how over he is. #ChugsArmy😉

Whatever happened to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" At least use what brought him to the dance first. If that didn't work on Raw/SD, then consider changes.

Elaquent

Why couldn’t they just offer to let him do EXACTLY WHAT GOT HIM OVER…ie change nothing lol

Stew Sizer

I could see him with a Japanese top knot and shaved sides. He'd look good 😎 But he's so damn handsome and lovely

What a weird request. Like, presentation is so important in wrestling and I'd argue that Adam Cole has long been one of wrestling's best presented stars. Great music, fantastic participatory crowd chant, good look, etc. Messing with any of that is just such a bad idea.

I can see both ways. How many long hair and bearded guys can we have on one show? At the same time, he said he wasn’t okay with it so they dropped it. There’s probably a thousand pitches that are made to certain talent and they shoot it down so it’s dropped. It is what it is

Damian Bushay

Wow. They really want to change everything about NXT call ups.
