Adam Cole's WWE contract expired last Friday, and we have confirmed with sources within WWE that he has not re-signed with the company. He is now 100% a free agent.

WWE sources also indicated that Cole is expected to field offers, and that he was not at Smackdown last Friday, and was not meeting with Vince McMahon as many had suspected when he canceled his stream.

Cole's WWE contract was up in July, and he signed a short term extension until August 27. He lost what appeared to be his NXT swan song against Kyle O'Reilly at NXT Takeover 36.

Fightful will work to gain more information on Cole's contract talks.

This is undisputed …BAY BAY!!

David Pick

Given who his friends and girlfriend are, if he manages to keep this secret until his debut, he’s truly changed the business

i need to hear “something for you” again

Adam Cole to Twitch CONFIRMED !!!!

Brad Nettle

It's going to take a few truck loads of cash and guarantees to keep him in WWE.

Coby Galenzoski

What is true on the statement from the WON that they were "locking" Cole in his own home?

If he somehow debuted at All Out, it'd be possible. Just because everyone MIGHT be so focused on Danielson that they'd miss it. But I think even that feels like a stretch.

Joe Donovan

This is a really really exciting time in wrestling, I'm kinda surprised he wasn't at Smackdown given that it made a lot of sense on paper, but presumably the reasons for his cancellations have had something to do with offers and negotiations because that guy does not like missing streams if he's announced them ahead of time.

WWE doesn't need Adam Cole but I feel AEW does. Hope he gets a nice payday. The top of the AEW card is amazing but they have a jobber class that is utter garbage and they put them too many times into prominent areas of the show in the name of development but it is clear in some of them that there is no money there. Cole would be a great shot in the arm because he's a main eventer but enough of a hand to work the mid when not in a main event program

Ralph Cody

I would love to see him show up in Impact and feud with Christian for the belt....

Jason

I hope Tony Khan realizes that if he signs him, he has to buy his ROH theme song.

Adam Frazier

Thoughts on Bryan's debut being moved up to ALL OUT so Cole can debut at the Arthur Ashe show?

Ricardo Name TBD

I just hope that no matter where he goes, or what he does, he's happy and fulfilled. He's so talented and ready to be top guy that his offers will be great.

Excellent Stuff, SRS! I’ve been waiting impatiently for this info.

AEW has about 10-12 guys who could main event besides Adam Cole so I wouldn’t say AEW needs him

Yes, non competes are only when they are released. As soon as a contract expires, they are free to work.

Rincewind

I would love for a run in at All Out, Bay Bay.

Matt

I know he has a lot of friends in AEW but as crazy as it sounds I feel like he would’ve fit better staying in WWE

Joel Wood

I know the cool thing is to wish everybody would go to AEW but the thing is, AEW has 10-12 guys who can main event a pay per view and that includes Punk and Danielson. WWE has two separate rosters on two separate shows. Adam Cole, whether anybody wants to admit it or not, has a better chance at success in WWE because the main event depth on both shows is depleted after losing Bryan, Braun, and Bray in recent months

I was expecting that Adam Cole re-signed with WWE that kind of updates

It made all the sense in the world to let his contract expire and see what he's worth before re signing with WWE anyways.

Adam Cole has all the talent in the world, but he is not that big and 32 years old. And has tons of experience in NXT and on the independent scene. Given the current directive of WWE to focus on younger, bigger talent without experience on the wrestling independent scene...WWE wanting to bring him back puzzles me a bit. I am glad he will get a chance to test the market to see what he can get. I also wonder if WWE wants him back because they don't want him going someone else. I mean, surely they should have been planning for him on the main roster when his ACTUAL contract expired...I mean having to get a short term extension signed should have been the signal to start thinking of him on the main roster. But apparently, it wasn't? Cole might have better short-term opportunities in WWE given the depleted roster, but...I feel like that would only last until Vince decided he is too small and too old.

Kim Cee

Does Cole ever answer questions from the Twitch chat while he streams? Perhaps he canceled his last stream to not even bother w/any regarding his contract status.

Kim Cee

Ah ha. Thanks to everyone who answered!
