Fightful Wrestling has confirmed Wrestling Observer's report in regards to Andrade El Idolo being originally scheduled to win the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania.

Meltzer reported that AEW has control over Kenny Omega's finishes, which we've also heard. Chatter backstage at AAA TripleMania indicated that Andrade had been aware that he was slated to win the title at one point, but that was changed along the way at the request of AEW. Several within AAA were speculating that the change may have been due to the quickly evolving nature of AEW with Christian winning the IMPACT Title, Page being out of action, and the influx of new talent, but that wasn't confirmed to us. Several wrestlers backstage had heard that AAA was informed of this as far back as early July, possibly sooner.

There were still names being discussed for Kenny Omega's next opponent within the company, with El Hijo Vikingo mentioned to us as a possibility down the line. Interestingly enough, one source indicated they didn't believe it would be Psycho Clown, and did not believe that an immediate Andrade rematch was in the cards.

We're working to confirm these rumors with officials of either company

Why does every Elite storyline has to be an overbooked mess? They should of kept it simple of Andrade winning so Kenny can get paranoid of losing the AEW belt in All Out. But they have to change storyline to suit Punk, Danielson, and more.

They don't 80thousands option it pretty much has to be hijo del vikingo at this point

Punk & Danielsom have nothing to do with Kenny/Andrade in AAA. What are you on about fella? Lol.

This is why I’m against any wrestler winning a belt of another promotion. The Forbidden door stuff has worked for NJPW and Impact or Impacf and AAA. But no promotion has had any long term benefit from working with AEW except AEW. The match with Andrade was booked in May. The match with Christian was booked last Wednesday. The loss to Christian didn’t need to happen three weeks before All out. It made no sense and makes even less sense now. I guess I’ll reserve judgment until I see the full outcome but as I sit here today, on August 15th, it seems like a convoluted mess that was bound to happen when you have all these promotions working together.

@Jordon I just don’t are anymore. This reminds of the FTR/Young Bucks storyline last year. They had a chance to just give to Hangman after Kenny lost all the titles. This lead to Kenny going on a downward spiral like Hangmen went a year ago. Plus, he can fight Punk and Danielson in a losing fashion leading him to a character change. When you complicate stuff, it’s bad.

I mean, they wouldn't have gotten much more out of Andrade holding it, so best to save it for Vikingo.

Shouldn’t that be the call of the promotion who’s belt it is, and not the other one?

For all we know it could've been impacts call to have Christian win the belt from Kenny.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have him drop it on Dynamite to Andrade, anyway? Get more eyes on the product... Their intent behind the whole forbidden door thing

It’s my understanding that Andrade is not signed with AAA. Vikino is the better choice
