Sunday morning, Chelsea Green posted "I never thought I’d be in a legal battle for my BIRTH GIVEN name…  Going to discuss it on tomorrow’s episode of @GreenWEnvyPod."

WWE had previously trademarked "Chelsea Green" -- her given name for wrestling purposes upon her Smackdown debut and signing of a new contract in November 2020, before she was released months later.

Fightful had reached out to WWE and Green about the situation, and were told that WWE made contact with Green Sunday night to inform her that they were going to release the trademark on the name so that she could use it.

When we asked Green, she confirmed as much, and said that she'd elaborate on her Green With Envy podcast when the situation is clear.

Good! They shouldn't be trademarking real names anyway.

fightful

Good on WWE. hopefully just an oversight

They have to if they want to be creating merch for her. Since they released her, they are giving up the trademark. Makes sense, doesnt sound like a huge drama filled legal battle but will see what Green says on her pod.

With all of these contract snafus, someone is going to get fired (or more likely already has been!)

Dave Snell

How big of them.

They have nothing invested in the name, they did the right thing for once

JB

Any idea of WWE owns the Curt Stallion name? Wouldn’t be nearly as bad as trying to take Chelsea green but would still be lame imo

Will Landrum

Its not. They're still doing it. Keith Lee is still fighting them on it.

For anyone wondering she didn't talk about it on the podcast she said because it was resolved already.

Wow how gracious of them, allowing her to use her birth name
