More on CM Punk to AEW, previous talks and interest (Patreon)

In regards to CM Punk and AEW talks, Fightful initially heard about the news early last week, and was mentioned as a closely guarded secret. In the days following the news, we've learned that other media had been poking around and had been aware of the news, to a more expanded level than the parties associated knew. In speaking with sources, we're told that there has been consideration and interest on All Elite Wrestling's behalf since approximately last year to bring in CM Punk, though we don't know if formal conversations ever happened that far back, there were higher ups who had openly mentioned the possibility of him coming in. As recently as a couple of months ago, people on the roster hadn't heard that Punk would be coming in, when they'd ask around. Punk has obviously been a topic of conversation backstage in AEW over the past week, with those that haven't worked with him inquiring about how he is to work with.
