Billie Kay was a surprise cut for many backstage, as the talent that Fightful spoke to did not expect that coming. When asked why, they cited the fact that she was used on WWE television as recently as WrestleMania, and was loved in the WWE locker room, as was her former tag team partner Peyton Royce. We're told Kevin Dunn specifically didn't "get" Billie Kay, and had verbalized that he saw a ceiling for her in WWE. We're not sure if that had actually contributed to the release.

Fuck a Kevin Dunn...

ProdigalGeek

A company that doesn’t “get” Billie Kay doesn’t deserve Billie Kay. Seriously, what’s NOT to get? She’s been entertaining since her NXT debut

Just because he didn't doesn't mean the audience doesn't and that sums up wwe as a whole

Add that to the list of thousands of things Kevin Dunn doesn’t get. Production, Female Touch, Dentists, etc

Anonymous

Fingers crossed she can work somewhere that understands her talent and natural charisma.

IIconics and Samoa Joe being released is not very smart, to put it nicely 🤨

It’s becoming a theme of WWE not getting wrestlers when the fans beg to see them. It’s genuinely sad 😪

Kevin Dunn is one of the biggest problems with wwe, in my opinion.

Matthew Graham

Comments like these just shows how unaware of what the WWE universe thinks about certain talent the heads of WWE are

Anonymous

They honestly have no clue at all.

You gotta be joking me!!

Kevin Dunn doesn’t like anyone with an accent, he tried to bury Becky because of her strong Dublin accent. And who doesn’t have a ceiling in WWE, every wrestler does some just have a higher ceiling than others.

The old men in positions of power are completely out of touch on pretty much everything and there's no hope of change until they're gone.

I remember Chris Jericho not "getting" Orange either, but saying fuck it, he's over.

Just... yikes. Billie is a great performer who could have been in one of the women’s championship pictures constantly. She made chicken salad out of her resumé angle. Come on.

It's very annoying to me how unsurprising I find this.

Bucky beaver strikes again. Fire him please

Kevin Dunn is an idiot.

CSDX

Regardless if that last part is true, I don't think Kevin Dunn has ever NOT seen a ceiling when it comes to women and the heights they can and should be allowed to reach.

Michael Adams

You can't spell Kevin Dunn without nudnik.

Kevin not getting someone I hope isn’t something factored into decision-making since the same man reportedly didn’t get Becky Lynch. I don’t think it’s not wrong to think there is a ceiling on how far Billie can go. I don’t think anyone would say she was a future women’s champion, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t bring incredible value as a personality. As the rumble showed you could pair her with anyone and get something interesting and entertaining.

Why Kevin Dunn has been around as long as he has, blows my mind.

Marc Forbes

I don't get Dunn, Prichard, or VKM, wrestling will truly be bette when they're not involved in it anymoer. They should all retire., they have no vision, no creativity, and apparently no common sense. Oh, and no appreciation for the fans or true talent. I hope all of the released talent ends up somewhere on tv soon.

These people are insane. Her ceiling is Hollywood she’s got incredible comedic timing

Matthew Graham

So looking at all the comments we are all saying the same thing and WWE is clueless. Here is something to think about Billie Kay and Orange Cassidy in the same segment would be GOLD

I don’t agree with Cornette on much, but I’m going to listen once again to him verbally eviscerating Kevin Dunn, because if you don’t see why Billie Kay is money, you don’t need to be evaluating talent.

I have a tough time believing that Kevin Dunn is the reason she was fired - if she was as beloved and respected as is purported to be true, someone surely would have spoken up in the room. I think this is, however, emblematic of how the women's division is this company is viewed. Here is an attractive, incredibly entertaining woman, in a company with numerous hours of original content that's needed to fill every week. And because she is not seen as main event material (a ridiculous assessment, but that's beside this point), she's expendable. In WWE's "evolved" women's division, you're either a main eventer, or you are not on television. There is no in between.
