EARLY: TAELER Impact Wrestling Counts Down To Bound For Glory 2020 (Patreon)
Content
In a little under a month, Impact Wrestling will be featuring its infamous flagship PPV - Bound For Glory! This iconic mainstay PPV is the most sought after PPV for Impact Wrestling dating back to its inception in 2005. Think of Bound For Glory as the Wrestlemania of Impact Wrestling and has seen numerous memorable moments featuring Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, Awesome Kong, The Great Muta, Matt Hardy, and so many more! With all the great moments gathered under the proverbial Bound For Glory banner, The Bound For Glory PPV that forever stands out in my mind is without a doubt from 2007! Bound For Glory 2007 was what made me a huge fan of Impact Wrestling prior to my signing and therefore had me completely elated to be featured on their Gutcheck segments on Spike TV.
Counting down with only a few weeks separating us from Bound For Glory on October 24th, 2020, Impact Wrestling has been doing a great job at using their social media platforms to highlight amazing milestones achieved on Bound For Glory's past. One such memory is my main focus and rightly so - Gail Kim Vs. The Voodoo Queen Roxxi Laveaux, Bound For Glory 2007! Coming into 2007, TNA Impact Wrestling had produced two Bound For Glory PPV's and was picking up major steam in the industry. The first as mentioned above in 2005 and the second in 2006. As the third ever Bound For Glory PPV aired in 2007, TNA fans all over tuned in and were rewarded with two immensely talented pioneers of the Knockouts Division, Gail Kim and Roxxi Laveaux.
These two ladies would go head to head in a hard fought emotional roller coaster of a match resulting in Gail Kim defeating Roxxi Laveaux and becoming the first ever TNA Knockouts Champion! Up until that point, the Knockouts had no championship belt and by proxy no standard to fight to the top of. A point Gail Kim went to war to prove and she succeeded. Proof we still see today with Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo. Forever in TNA history will be women like Roxxi Laveaux, Taylor Wilde, Hamada, Awesome Kong, Tara, Gail Kim and more who fought hard for women like myself to have a chance in this business. Securing a championship win is history worthy in and of itself and ofcourse is written into the internet record books. But to be the first? And on the biggest TNA PPV of the year? That honor is and forever will be Gail Kim's! She'll always be the first.
Milestones such as this one with Roxxi Laveaux Vs. Gail Kim proved to me that any milestones worth achieving are carved out from long years of hard work that over time come together amassing history worthy memorable moments that inspire others. These ladies' work was irrevocably inspiring to me and countless others that perform today in the industry. Made me proud of becoming a TNA Knockout at the time I did. So on the first episode of my podcast "Talks with Taeler Hendrix," I wanted to honor that inspiration by having Roxxi Laveaux as my first ever guest. Roxxi spoke with such pride over her Bound For Glory memory. The hard work the Knockouts all put into their craft. The guts to fight to prove their worth/value on live PPV. The guts and gumption they had to see it through knowing full well what was at stake...
Fast forward to 2020. With a Women's Division like Impact Wrestling's Knockouts including Taya Valkyrie, Deonna Purrazzo, Kylie Rae, Alisha Edwards, Keira Hogan, Tenille Dashwood, Jordynne Grace and more, these ladies will fight just as hard. To continue breaking down walls and stereotypes. All with their eyes fixed on the same goal - ultimately making unforgetable history at Bound For Glory! Stay tuned for more highlights of past Bound For Glory's leading up to Bound For Glory 2020 on October 24th. Catch Impact Wrestling on AXS TV every Tuesday and as well as on their Twitch. This year's Bound For Glory will showcase The Champion Deonna Purrazzo going up against the Challenger Kylie Rae. Both Champion and Challenger aim to be at the top of the growing Knockouts Division but there can only be one! Until next time! - TH
