Fightful has obtained the letter sent to WWE talent from Vince McMahon regarding third party activities.

It reads:

"Furthering my comments last Sunday regarding the reinvention of our product, it is imperative that we promote and protect our brand in every conceivable way. Some of you are engaged with outside 3rd parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company. It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension or termination at WWE's discretion. These actions are necessary in order to rebuild our brand as we enter the next phase of growth at WWE.

I thank you for your cooperation in this matter and for all of your efforts towards the rejuvenation of WWE.

Vince.”

We have reached out to WWE on the matter.

Very CorpSpeak. It's not an unordinary message to give your employees, but it's the independent contractor conversation that makes this more dicey.

"WE HAVE ALTERED THE DEAL. PRAY WE DON'T ALTER IT FURTHER" -wwe, probably

I mean, if they weren’t independent contractors, I’d say fair game. But, I also look at pro-wrestlers (especially in WWE) like actors in a Marvel film. Yes, we attribute the person to the character/persona, and yes the studio expects them to respect that persona. But, they aren’t that character lol

This does make me quite curious what those upcoming reinventions are. Perhaps gaming content coming directly from the company?

'Detrimental" 🤦‍♂️

Is this even legal to do?

I should be surprised by this...but I'm not. Par for the course.

I think Vince heard how much they were making and realized it was money he could take a cut of. Wrestlers with WWE owned names I get (Not necessarily agree with, but get). However if they're doing it under their own brand can he do anything legally? I think most of them are going to be cowed because it's the way things have gone before. It would be interesting to see if they call his bluff though.

Everyone that has a Twitch or YouTube has to change their "wrestling name"

if a couple big names kept going with it, do we really think vince would fire someone like AJ?

Independent contractors 😂😂😂

Am I the only one that thinks this is convenient. AJ mentioned on his twitch channel how he tested positive for covid just three weeks ago. And we all know how Vince feels about any of HIS SUPERSTARS letting anyone know that they have tested positive.
