 WWE's COVID-19 situation is a mess.

Upon news of numerous positive tests on Thursday, several members of the roster have contacted Fightful, with one even asking how many positive tests were rumored because "we'd know better than them." WWE wrestlers have not been informed of even an approximate number of tests, let alone who tested positive. This is a far cry from the first positive test three months ago in which WWE provided the name, how it was likely contracted, and an update on the individual via an internal memo.

Main Roster talent we've heard of are generally upset about the handling, with one saying that they'd also prefer if WWE had testing set post-tapings. Another was particularly concerned for Kayla Braxton considering the virus has re-emerged in her.

There were multiple NXT wrestlers who needed to be re-tested after "being exposed to somebody positive," but they tested negative. There was also concern and worry over a couple of small gatherings that took place among wrestlers, considering the rumored numbers are so high. We're told that it's across all kinds of departments, and despite last week's news, there were still some at the PC who were not required to come in for testing.

NXT PC talent were sent a message Thursday morning after 9 AM saying:

"Per Vince, ALL Talent are needed for TV on Friday & Saturday. Please go to PC by 10:30 AM TODAY for drive-through COVID testing. if you took test yesterday, you don't need to today. If you are in high level storyline, you will be off camera. Thanks. **IMPORTANT: after test, you will need to remain ISOLATED AND QUARANTINED until after the TV tapings."

Many talent missed that testing deadline and were awaiting a new location as of 5 PM EST.

Those who were tested yesterday do not yet have their results back. We'd heard from several NXT and PC talent that were doing to skip this week's tapings after the second COVID test, then accelerated by the numerous other tests. However, they were urged to come in even after expressing that they weren't comfortable doing so.

As mentioned yesterday, friends and family will not be permitted at the tapings this weekend, but were told that it's possible they would be in the future.

Dang. Glad you finally "did your job" and reported on this, since, y'know, you haven't been all along 😂😂😂

Brian Brown

How come Mark Madden didn't report this? 🤔 Great work as always guys. Wish you were reporting something happier though. 😢

Does Vince care for your health?? I’m a big Kayla Braxton, i sure hope she’s OK..

Fuckin' yikes

I understand Kayla has tested positive X2. Adam Pearce testing positive is a downer

"WWE's COVID-19 situation is a mess." Tell us something we don't know!! "Kayla Braxton got Covid twice." ...oh. Damn, Daily Show was right. There really IS a strain of Covid that can infect people who already had it. Fuck, man. This is upsetting. Still, hoping everyone gets through this, but given the damage Covid does to their lungs, it's safe to say that not only will a number of people have to retire early(possibly), but I'll be damned if they don't file a class action lawsuit and I'll be even more damned if they do and somehow lose.

That last sentence says a lot about the company.

Complete ignorance on WWE’s part.

"WWE's COVID-19 situation is a mess." No freaking kidding. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if more wrestlers chose to stay home.

At this rate, WWE is going to have to quarantine their whole roster, then they're REALLY going to be ultra screwed. Not to mention that Florida isn't exactly handling the situation great by any stretch of the imagination. Regardless of how AEW is handling their situation, which is much more promising due to lack of positives, I wouldn't be shocked if their neck of the woods start getting positives as well. But yeah, WWE aren't doing themselves favors.

And great work on this story

They need to band together and force changes

what a mess. What if someone becomes gravely ill as a result of wwe negligence. Unacceptable.

The only logical solution for the talent--just stay home and refuse to tape until things calm down. If the WWE has proven anything, its that the health and safety of his talent is not always a concern. See--letting the undertaker wrestler and nearly get killed with Goldberg, and Owen Hart--wanting a cooler looking rig for a stupid stunt but wanted to get it cheaper, because...why worry about a safe rig?

The other thing--kayla was sick in MArch with Covid apparently. how many people are ACTUALLY running around the PC with covid, maybe asymptomatic, that keep passing it back and forth ? No way to know since WWE opted not to mass test until now--but someone at the cdc noted that the actual number of cases could be 10x what the tested positives are. Basically, there probably are a LOT of people that had it or are positive and didn't know it--shockingly temp checks and questions are not very helpful in screening out a disease where 80% of cases have mild or no symptoms. For her to get it a 2nd time....just makes me think the number of cases associated with WWE and the PC is probably much higher than what they know at the moment. Nobody should be there for at least 2 weeks to try to get on top of it. But Vince will publically say something and privately another. I hope Sami, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns stay away. I hate to say it again, but the last person that assumed WWE was on top of safety did not make out well in the end.
