For those asking, yes, Drake Maverick knew about the renewed WWE contract ahead of time -- it wasn't a surprise. It was unclear to those we've heard from when WWE decided to go this route with the story

This makes me feel rather disgusted. So, just to be clear, they lied about firing him when grouping it with a bunch of legit releases all for ratings?

That’s kinda really bad optics

Not only that, the dude went along with it as well, that's poor on his part to.

Was his release a work from the beginning? or was it a shoot that became a work when wwe realized they could exploit it for ratings if they tried to resign him? Given nobody else that got their release went on to wrestle again...I gotta think it was a work from the beginning. Makes it seem rather cheap when so many others lost their jobs for real.

Maybe sean can touch on this, but I think he actually got released but the outpour of emotional reactions he got in response to his video made WWE realize they should keep him and they ended up making a storyline a vast majority were deeply invested it. I see no problem.

I think that too. Either he’s a really good actor or it was real or both. He sold me on his emotions.

Guess nobody else wanted it badly enough. REACH FOR THAT BRASS RING!!!
