When speaking to ROH COO Joe Koff, Fightful learned that though the New Japan USA announcement caught many by surprise, New Japan let ROH know about it ahead of time.  Everyone we spoke to within ROH seemed to indicate they never thought the partnership would go away, and Koff says he respected that NJPW saw their brand as something worth expanding.

It should be noted that Lance Archer said in our interview that it isn't a brand extension as much as a touring extension.
