Jay Interview Notes

Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with OTT’s Jay ahead of ScrapperMania this weekend.

Jay explained that his recent arm injury was caused by a 450 splash he hit at OTT Supremacy, and will only be cleared to compete just days before ScrapperMania. Throughout the interview, Jay noted that he will be consulting with a surgeon after the event and will go under the knife for a ruptured UCL.

Jay explained that he feels he is an OTT lifer, and wants to win the OTT World Title and defend it across Europe. Jay echoed the thoughts of Sammy D in believing that B Cool will be unable to find partners for ScrapperMania. Jay explained that his recent hesitation regarding The Draw’s tension with B Cool has been due to his belief that the faction is wasting their time on Barry. When asked if he would prefer an absentee champion in Trent Seven or B Cool, Jay wondered if it was possible for a double loss for the pair if the two meet at ScrapperMania.

Jay spoke about his mam being present at events, and recalled a moment where he had just suffered a jaw injury only for his mam to give him a whack over the head for scaring her. Despite his recent injury and his mam’s concern, Jay assured fans he will still be hitting his big spots in matches moving forward.

Jay also spoke at length about former OTT World Champion Gunther and the pedestal that Irish wrestling fans put his match with JD McDonagh on as the greatest match in Irish wrestling history, and Jay hoped that one day he gets the chance to face off with Gunther.

Jay spoke about his disappointment at no women’s matches being booked over ScrapperMania weekend, particularly with Session Moth being on the Dublin show, but not competing.

Probably a good idea to start on the 40,000 side for a US stadium, then if it does well expand to bigger stadiums for future shows. It was easy to go bigger the first time in the UK since big wrestling shows like that aren’t over saturated there

Agreed, they can get 40,000 in Texas but definitely not 80,000 or 100,000
