The Social Elite Interview Notes

Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with the OTT World Tag Team Champions The Social Elite (Matthew Smyth and Sean Guinness) ahead of ScrapperMania.

Both men noted that when they initially began teaming, they would hit it off from the get go, and with more time developed far quicker as a team than they expected. Matt noted his amazement about growing up watching talent like Sean and going on to also wrestle them.

Both men noted that their tag title win earlier this year was ‘surreal’ and Matt noted his surprise that it was Sean’s first championship in OTT. Both men gave credit to B Cool and Jay for an incredible match, with Sean noting that he originally didn’t think the pair were ready for the titles at the time. The pair spoke highly of all members of The Draw and their matches together.

On their recent five grand challenge, the pair said it was a happy accident, with the money being brought in for a random segment. They both hope to see the stipulation return in the future for them and that the idea spawned from the Million Dollar Man.

Both men spoke about how much they appreciate being on the ScrapperMania card this weekend, with Matt calling his debut at the show ‘massive’, while Sean had not realized he had not been on a ScrapperMania card since the original show in 2015. Sean admitted that he views every match the same regardless of the event it takes place at.

Both Matt and Sean spoke highly of themselves and of The Freshas ahead of their title defense at the event. Both men denied being involved in the gauntlet match at OTT Sanity, and look forward to proving they are the better team at the event.

The pair also spoke highly of The Rascalz, who they wrestled in December of last year, and in the final questions of the interview, Sean said that hopefully he gets to wrestle Terry Thatcher soon.

Michael Oku And Amira - AEW Update

On August 7th Michael Oku posted a video compilation of interviews he has partaken in where the discussion has centered around a possible AEW appearance at All In 2024, with the compilation featuring both interviews from Fightful’s Corey Brennan and Grapsody

The tease sparked speculation amongst many fans, and now Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned that Oku and Amira are suspected for the Cardiff Dynamite taping on August 21st and AEW All In at Wembley Stadium on August 24th, and there is a possibility of Oku wrestling on one or both shows. Brennan has also learned that there will be an announcement soon.

As of today, we have not heard of any deal being offered to Oku or Amira. Oku is currently scheduled to challenge for MJF’s American Championship at RevPro’s Summer Sizzler event on August 11th and is the current RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion.
