WWE has added a new writer, and he’ll be familiar to many fans.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Eric Watts has joined the WWE writing team, full-time on the Smackdown side of things. Not to be confused with Erik Watts, the son of Bill Watts, this Watts has competed as a pro wrestler for over a decade.

He may be familiar to some fans as he competed on the 2011 edition of Tough Enough, which also featured Cameron, Marty The Moth, Matt Cross, Ivelisse and others. He was the seventh player eliminated from the program. He never went on to wrestle for WWE, but had a lengthy career and did extra work with them numerous times.

Going simply by “Watts,” he would make several appearances for major companies, including teaming with Chris Bey on TNA’s Unbreakable in 2019. He also appeared on AEW Dark, taking on Jurassic Express in 2020.

Fightful has reached out to WWE to attempt to confirm the news officially.

It would be cool for WWE to add another female talent to the writing or production team. Molly Holly is the only woman alumni doing so.

He’s a regular in the California wrestling indie scene. Mainly wrestled for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Has wrestled against LA Knight, Adam Pearce and Scorpio Sky.
