NWA made numerous re-signings, but lost a couple of former champions along the way.

Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp spoke to former tag team champion Missa Kate and former Junior Heavyweight Champion Joe Alonzo about leaving the National Wrestling Alliance and what lies ahead.

Missa Kate said that she stopped being invited to NWA tapings earlier this year, and figured that her departure was coming at the end of her contract. She also noted she believes she left on positive terms and was complementary of all she learned there. She was also excited that her former tag team champion partner Madi/Wren Sinclair signed with NXT and said that she hopes they can reunite down the line. She also noted she's had conversations with a few places, and unfortunately could no longer do AEW extra work or pursue a couple of opportunities in Japan or Canada due to her NWA contract when she was there.

Joe Alonzo told Fightful that he was offered an 18-month contract, but did not think the financials of the deal reflected his contributions to the company. He noted that he couldn't afford to live working for the NWA, and was told "some people don't have a couch to sleep on," and that was one of the things that ultimately made him decide to leave. He spoke about doing extra work in AEW (including against Cody Rhodes) as well as WWE against Gunther.

Both interviews are up for early access on Fightful Select tier 2.

Some people don't have a couch is a poor excuse for not paying your talent enough to live. If you can't pay them well, at least let them take any other bookings they can get.

Alex

Tony should book them for AEW to guarantee them an NXT contract.
