Say his name and he (may) appear.

On tonight’s episode of NXT, a battle royal is set to take place on the show to crown a new number one contender for Trick Williams’ NXT Championship with “multiple locker rooms” teased as featuring in the matchup. Last Wednesday, Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan learned that TNA talent were expected to be involved in the matchup. One name our audience has asked about repeatedly is Joe Hendry.

Joe Hendry has been teasing fans over the last few weeks on social media, directly acknowledging the requests for him to appear on NXT by fans. Brennan has now learned that Hendry is one name that has been discussed as being included in the battle royal, but have not been able to confirm if Hendry is currently planned for the matchup. Hendry was in Los Angeles on Monday.

In asking around about the references on WWE programming by Vic Joseph and a reference by Brooks Jensen in one of his social media promos, Brennan was told that these were planned out and were not improvisations.

In asking about Hendry amongst talent in WWE and NXT, Brennan was told that Hendry has long had admirers on the brand, particularly for his comedic ability and charisma. One WWE talent we asked about Hendry stated that they would be “shocked” if Hendry was not planned for a WWE appearance at some point and that it would be “a lapse of judgment” if Hendry were to not be a part of the current TNA-NXT crossover. The belief among talent we spoke to is that the crossover between the two companies is “far from over.”

When we asked NXT sources about whether Shawn Michels would put the NXT Championship on an outside talent, we were told by one source that they believed that Shawn “would make anyone a number one contender, not a champion” based on recent booking.

Come to think of it, did any AEW belts ever go on talent from other promotions crossing over? I can only think of ROH belts(I'd say it counts) in relation to the TV title and the Women's title.
