Fightful Select caught up with Ivar of The Viking Raiders on WrestleMania Media Day. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp sat down with the former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion for a few minutes.

Ivar told Sean that his singles run has been exciting and noted that he always expected to do tag team work in the WWE. Ivar’s tag partner, Erik is out with a neck injury and will be out for the foreseeable future. The injury would move Ivar into singles competition for the time being.

Ivar would talk more about wrestling as a singles competitor. The former ROH & NJPW Tag Team Champion said he began wrestling in 2001 and has already done a lot in the business as a singles wrestler. He said he loves going to the ring weekly and, hopefully, surprising people and turning some heads in his matches.

Sean asked Ivar when was it when he realized he could do things in the ring that others could not. Ivar told Sean, “I’ve learned that it’s the fear that keeps people from doing a backflip or doing something crazy. It’s the fear.”

When the interview continued, Sean mentioned Ivar’s match against Ricochet from the WrestleMania Go Home Show for Raw. Ivar said that was his and Ricochet’s WrestleMania match. Ivar noted that going into the match, he and Ricochet knew that would be their WrestleMania.

Sean asked Ivar how Erik was doing. Ivar said, “He’s here (at Mania) for some appearances. I hadn’t seen him since after he got hurt.” Ivar mentioned he flew to Birmingham, Alabama, where Erik had surgery. Erik had Neck Fusion surgery and last wrestled on September 11th, 2023.

Ivar mentioned that he once had a neck injury, and his injury was worse, and he was also temporarily paralyzed. He said it was questionable that he would ever be able to return. Erik says he won’t do any more suicide dives in his matches or anything that can compromise his head.

In closing, Sean told Ivar that Hornswoggle hit him with a chokeslam last weekend. After watching his and Ricochet’s match, Sean told him he was right there with him and Ricochet; Ivar laughed.

During the interview with Ivar, AJ Styles and LA Knight got into a fight. The footage from the fight aired on the following SmackDown and during WrestleMania.

Former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide made a very short cameo. Kazeem walked through their shot while the Styles and Knight fight went on.

Kevin Owens also stopped by for a second after the AJ Styles and LA Knight fight.
