WWE is retaining a big name and a former Universal Champion.

Finn Balor posted on X Monday, "I would like to take this moment to say thank you to WWE for 10 incredible years. And after much thought and consideration , I have decided that now is the right time to say ‘I ain’t going nowhere!"

Fightful had heard Monday that Balor was staying with WWE, and was signing a long-term contract extension with the company. Balor's deal was set to be up within the next couple of months.

We're told that WWE was looking to sign Balor to a multi-year, big money offer. It was expected that he would have major interest outside of the company, and that specifically AEW is looking to sign potential free agents this Summer. His name was on their list of talent they were keeping an eye on.

I just dont understand the mentality of just resigning. Unless they are told in the negotiation there will be no contract available for them if the become a free agent, why not test the waters to see what's available. At the very least, use the leverage to drive up the price to retain them.

Maybe he had no interest in leaving and they gave him the money and contract length he was looking for?

I'd love for the return of Prince Devitt but there really isn't a spot for him in AEW. There's more potential for him in WWE. I just wish they'd let him be like he was in NXT.

Patience is key, my friend. I have a feeling he's going to be in a significant feud this summer with Damian Priest
