Joe Gacy Update, Changes Made To Tonight’s NXT (Patreon)

Joe Gacy faced off with Oba Femi on tonight’s edition of NXT, and after a brutal slam from Femi where Gacy’s head struck the canvas hard, the match was quickly called off with trainers being called into the ring to check on Gacy.

Fightful’s Corey Brennan was able to confirm that Gacy’s injury scare was legitimate, with the concern being for a possible concussion. Fightful is told that Gacy was able to walk to the back under his own power, but match graphics and a promo to set up his match with Shawn Spears were briefly put on hold.

NXT sources tell Fightful that this was something that threw a spanner in the works, as following the original planned finish, Dijak and Josh Briggs were set to be involved in a segment with Oba Femi. However, as a result of Gacy’s injury, the segment was filmed backstage on short notice, with Gacy also filming a segment backstage where he said he was fine, and asked for the match with Spears at Stand And Deliver.

Brennan reported last week that Gacy and Spears were being considered for a match on Stand and Deliver.
