Fightful Select had the opportunity to catch up with Jade Cargill at the WrestleMania Kickoff in Las Vegas during the week of the Super Bowl. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp began the conversation by mentioning that Jade had visited Lexington, Kentucky, for a short time. Jade said she was there because her partner, Brandon Phillips, is a part-owner of the Independent Professional Baseball team Lexington Legends. Phillips is a former Major League Baseball player who played most of his career for the Cincinnati Reds.

Jade also mentioned that she and Brandon co-own the Texas Smoke, a Women's Professional Fastpitch, in Austin, Texas; Jade says to check it out. Jade also said Brandon is very supportive; she said that Brandon said to her, “I have my time; now it’s your time.” Jade added, “So, I’m like, alright, let me go out here and kill it.”

Jade talked about her in-ring debut at the Royal Rumble. Jade said, “It felt great, electrifying.”

She said she was elated when she heard the pop from the crowd, and they accepted her. Jade said, “It’s literally the debut of a legendary career I’m about to have.”

Jade spoke about her decision to leave AEW. She said, “It’s all business. I left in a very loving, professional manner. I did what I had to do.”She said everybody was elated for her, and there were no ill feelings toward AEW in any manner. 

When asked if the door was still open for a return to AEW, she said the door was still open for her and said she has friends here [WWE] and there [AEW] and added that she wants to see everyone excel and make money.

Sean mentioned how Jade won the first Fightful Gear of the Year Award.  Sean asked Jade where her inspiration for her gear came from. Jade said, “I love comics, and I love Marvel. I am a big Marvel fan. If you guys haven’t realized who I look like? I’m a huge fan of Storm. I’m a huge fan of Marvel.”

Jade also told Fightful that she wants to have input from the fans because she wants them to feel like they are part of her journey.

I can’t wait to see what she does. Hope they do it right for her. So far so good.

It was a smart move for her. AEW simply could not keep her active enough for her to evolve. With WWE, she can utilize the Performance Center and hopefully develop into the star she looks like.
