I think you might be referring to backup track, but I'm not entirely sure if this is what you mean. It's a prerecorded vocal track that plays during performances. Singer will still sing, but not as loud or hard as normally they would, or they sing just parts of the song and the rest is covered by a backup track. I think this was very popular in K-pop for many years but from what I heard nowadays idols often just lipsynk. So basically singing with backup track instead of lipsynk is considered almost like live vocal. But I might not be entirely correct about this, so if anyone knows better please correct me.

At about 1:56 is there anything noteworthy about that bit w Key and Taemin? Is it unusual in dance?

Are you referring to their level choices when Minho is doing the wave? or the canon between Minho, Taemin, and Key?
