This one included a FOCUS on including sign language in the choreo. I appreciate the inclusivity but I felt it limited the movement choices obviously so I don't love the choreo as much as I love the song, which is shame because this is one of my favorite XG songs.

I can 1000% see that. I do enjoy the beauty of maintaining symmetry with not just their formations but the CHAIRS!! No neglected chairs and I am HERE for it!

The gvng stands for gang😂 a lot of people say giving even I thought it was girl giving

I feel so silly 😂😂😂 that makes so much more sense haha!! Thank you for teaching me something new!

As always such a great breakdown. I had so much worry and tension during this dance, this seems so dangerous with the chairs and I can’t imagine doing this live with maybe chairs or a stage you aren’t used to. You are doing so great with the members. You got Cocona too, her and Jurin are such good dancers it’s hard to not pick them out. Maya is a rapper, and Juria is lead vocals with Chisa, also Juria always from here on out has long bangs. Hope that helps a little. A couple questions. 1. How do you feel about chair choreo? Does adding props make it more impressive or stand out or is it more of a take it or leave it for you? 2. This is the second song in a row you have noticed less “cleanliness” to the overall dance, is this something you see as a trend and does that sit in your mind as you watch them? This song really hits, I’m glad you had heard it before, also their youngest Cocona just turned 18, so moving forward in 2024 with any new comebacks there won’t be any underage members. I do appreciate your call outs on keeping things tasteful given that they have been underage until now. That’s so important, I agree.

Thanks for another great analysis! There were a lot of areas where there were discrepancies that I hadn't noticed before and it does seem like it affects the cohesiveness to some degree - although, in my mind, when I hear the chorus, I feel like things click back together a little more. I liked a lot of the details that you pointed out, like how there was some asymmetry in the initial chair position since they were doubled except for Hinata's (since there were only 7). Harvey's confidence dropping down from standing on the chairs to reveal Cocona was something I hadn't thought about before. It always seems a little scary when they perform this live, but they've done it a number of times both on music shows in Korea and in concert. Do you find props like chairs to add to the difficulty or is it just par for the course after a certain level of expertise? They put a lot of work into the sign language aspect to this choreography. Their producer, Simon, mentioned that they got an ASL translator to provide the signs, then gave that to the choreographers to incorporate, then provided a video of how it was incorporated back to the translator to confirm that the intent wasn't lost. I thought it was cool that they worked through the details to that degree. I think Daniel's got the right hint for Juria - the bangs will likely be the best clue. For me, Maya's facial expressions are also the way I recognize her, but that's harder than the bangs, I think.

Thank you for leaving this comment! I was actually able to reference it during "TGIF" so I could truly make sure I was right in my guesses! Means a lot!!

To answer your questions: 1 - Chair choreo really depends on context.. I think sometimes it can be pretty risque if not kept in check, but other times it can be a great enhancement for levels and showcasing a different perspective of movement and concepts not able to be expressed exclusively without it. 2- I think randy nailed it regarding this question (posted a comment under TGIF video!)! They posted what all XG has been doing all this year and that list is WILD LONG.... So I think sheer lack of time would be the answer to that haha! To answer the second half of your question, I feel it does sit in my head, but not in a critical way, but more of an accountability way. I want to make sure I recognize progress within that area if it was a problem recently solved, because my own students struggle with chronic performance issues so when they overcome them I am able to properly celebrate the growth with them! I hope this makes sense!

I'm glad we were able to learn new things together! To answer your questions, I feel that chairs will always be tricky no matter how much time you spend using them. You never really go on auto-pilot if that makes sense. I think you can get confidence by using a chair (just like any other prop) but it's harder to master styles or techniques that require external resources (like heels or pole or chair) So it will always be impressive when you see a group of people utilize a prop like a chair with the appearance of ease!!

Also.. Thank you for commenting helpful suggestions to recognize some of the members.... I looked at your comment to make sure that I was on the right track!!

Ah, I will probably still feel a bit worried then, when GRL GVNG comes up in future concerts, like their world tour next year, but will also be sure to enjoy the hard work that went into it! Thanks for working so hard to recognize all of the members above and beyond your usual marathon goals!
