if jammies only have six members, that means they're blue mask. surprisingly cohesive. not perfectly in sync but much better than i'd expect a newly formed group speaking three different languages to do. (plus having lost someone during prep they might have had to make changes last minute)

I completely agree with your talk about the durags. While it would be kind of side-eye if it's just used as an ornamental "we're hip-hop" accessory, as long as they are educated and know the history and reasoning behind it, and coming onto the show as mentees to learn and grow this is a great time to do it. Reminds me of Latrice's "k-pop is America" quip that you talked about too oop LOL. Also this is another reason why I completely love a lot of the dancers of Street Woman Fighter, specifically the ones I know like LipJ, Waackxxy, Yoonji, and even Ran who was in Lachica's MegaCrew. I've seen a lot of their interviews and when asked about waacking (or vogue in Ran's case) they always bring up the history and you can tell how important explaining that is to them, and while they've also incorporated their own style and Korean influences, they've made sure to have gone to the States and trained from the source, like I know LipJ was really close friends with the Soul Train waacker Tyrone Proctor before he passed.

When I first saw Humbles performance all I could see was the appropriation with the use of durags & it distracted me from seeing how good they actually are, which is such a shame. It reminded me of a podcast episode Danyel Moulton posted, she mentioned she was a judge and the crew members were NonBlack but they had cornrow hairstyles. She said she couldn’t watch the performance like she should have in that moment doing her job or even simply enjoy it . I firmly believe as visitors (Non-Black dancers) of street dance culture its a responsibility to stay away from these things as much as possible. Over sized clothing has cultural significance but even as visitors it can hold its own meaning when you’re doing a specific style (ex.popping) because it emphasizes one’s movement! But when it comes to hairstyles & durags in this case, most of our hair isn’t meant for these types of styles. It holds no real significance to be worn other than trying to emulate something we aren’t. I could even argue we already take too much being involved with street dance & should be greatful we even are able to be welcomed in most places!!!! I really want more people to have conversations like this with out it feeling like an attack so we can build a better community that actively respects & honors the roots of where these styles came from!!

YESSS!!! I AGREE..... Intention is EVERYTHING..... It is no good to make a choice in costume for the sake of aesthetics when it obviously has a cultural background affiliated. Thank you so much for sharing because it is such an important topic that isn't discussed about appropriately enough!!!! Excited to continue this discussion with you regarding future episodes!

Thank you for the reaction and critique, it's fun to not only watch the show, but also learn something along the way. I watched your videos for ep.3, I feel there is some confusion regarding how the 1 vs. 1 plays out. I think it is better explained in this episode and shown with imagines at 2:08:58 in this video, there seems to be only one winner in each video, but it is possible that they both survive!

That’s what I originally thought as well, but my curiosity mostly stems from how will the teams be rewarded for the global voting… we will find out on Tuesday!

I am very curious about it as well, and what's the criteria for elimination!!! It's hard to believe that one of them is going to be eliminated so fast, I hope team members have more time to bond and everyone in the program have a great memory.
