SDC6 EP 4 PART 2

Li Chao was one of favourites from Season 3 because you could see how much dancing meant to him in his performances, man wore his heart on his sleeve. Former contestants (and winners) are always welcomed back onto the show but this was the first time they didn’t join the show from start along side everyone else. Next episode is Permanent Team Recruitment (where they’ll battle & choreograph with the team & captain they join right to the end of the show). These episodes are usually fun & have a lot of team bonding afterwards but it usually has very little dancing involved aswell.

I could tell those things just from how he was in the episode alone... Love the vulnerability addressed, recognized, and valued... Goodness gracious I wasn't expecting that at all man! That made me really love this show...

so alot of people in China feel like Danzel took the first half and Ibuki took the second so there were lots of conflicting comments. BUT a big thing alot of people were saying is that Ibuki has lost a ton of weight in the last two years and hasnt battled as shes been teaching classes in China for a reeeeeeally long time and they think she isnt in her prime anymore.

I can understand this… as someone who choreographs and teaches more than dances, it’s different! She mentally is in her prime even if her body isn’t at the “competitive battle” form… just expressing and impacting the community and culture differently than she used to! Kite would be another good example of this shift

I think they really fumbled the editing of this round by not giving us more context on who got to participate. In previous years of SDC, each round typically consists of either/combination of: 1. Team/solo/small group performances. 2. Battle rounds, if it's 1v1/2v2, the choreographers typically don't participate, if it's a group battle they do. At the end the losing teams would send out people to battle to save people from being eliminated. They switched up the format this year to be super battle heavy. It's amazing to watch but they're not explaining if there's a choreo component, and whether everyone has to join. There are tons of group performances later on. They had to have been worried about if there'll still be dancers like Apple left after wiping them out in the first few challenges. Her and Kenken made the roster and they could've shown just a couple clips so there's no confusion.

Finally, after years and years of waiting, we got the Danzel vs. Ibuki battle. I watched this part several times when the episode dropped, and I have to say, it's so hard to pick a winner. I think that if it was a waacking battle, Danzel would've won, but this was an all-style battle where the two dancers happened to be waackers, so I thought Ibuki would've clinched the win. I felt more of the waacking soul in Danzel's dance but as you also mention, I think Ibuki's overheads and waacks are just unmatched. She's still at the top of the game in regards to her technical cleanliness IMO even though she did lose a lot of her power that she was so well known for in the past. I also feel weird about not seeing the choreographers. They weren't featured at all in this episode. It feels like they completely cut out Round 2 (they did mention in Part 1 that this is Round 1). Hopefully, they'll give us a little bit of something at the beginning of the next episode or at least in the All Access episode.

Totally agree with you here…. Because having choreographers battle freestylers isn’t the most efficient way to have equal footing with this show! I’m hopeful we get more clarity in the next episode!
